AHS Teams Open Seasons with AAA Benefit Games

The Arkadelphia volleyball and football programs will open the 2014 seasons with Arkansas Activities Association sanctioned scrimmage games benefiting the AAA Catastrophic Insurance Fund.

The Lady Badger volleyball team, under the direction of second-year head coach Jenny Coon, will host El Dorado in a AAA benefit match Thursday, August 21, at 5:30 at Arkadelphia High School. The Lady Badgers will look to return to the 4A State volleyball tournament as a member of the 4A-West conference.

The Badger varsity football team, under the direction of two-time 4A-7 Coach of the Year J.R. Eldridge will scrimmage the Valley View Blazers Monday, August 25, at Cabot High School beginning at 6:00 p.m. Valley View was a 4A State Semifinalist last year and moves up to class 5A for the 2014-16 cycle.

The final scrimmage of the pre-season will be played by the junior high Badger football team, Thursday, August 28, as the Badgers will host 7A member Cabot South in the first game at AllCare Field at Badger Stadium.

Admission for adults and student s to all of the above scrimmages is $4, as mandated by the Arkansas Activities Association. No local passes can be accepted, but AAA passes for the 2014-15 school year will be honored.
