Both the Arkadelphia High School Lady Badgers and Badgers swimming and diving teams finished second in the 1A-5A South District Meet Thursday at Henderson State University.
The Lady Badgers finished second behind Magnolia and in front of Lakeside and Bauxite. The Badgers also finished second behind Magnolia and in front of Lakeside, Bauxite, Hot Springs and Camden-Fairview.
Automatically qualifying for state were Badger diver Taylor Savage in one meter diving and junior William Matthews in the 100 back. The Badger 400 free relay team of William Matthews, Patrick Hayes, Nick Levar and Blanton Matthews won the race at the District meet and could end up qualifying as a relay team for the state meet. Final state qualifiers will be posted on February 17th as not all of the district meets have been held.
On the girls' side, the Lady Badger effort was highlighted by senior Kayla Thompson who won the 100 fly and 100 back. Sallie Matthews finished third in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free while Colleen Lloyd finished eighth in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 breast.
