The week ahead brings the beginning of track season and several home contests for baseball, softball, and soccer -- and a rainy forecast.

Spring sports schedules literally change with the weather and the forecast for this week indicates that most likely changes will be made to what is posted below. As weather necessitates changes in our schedules, we will post them on this website and our social media outlets (Facebook: "Badger Athletics" and Twitter: "@APSD_Athletics").

Last week provided a bit of history for our baseball and softball programs as the teams played their first regular season games in their respective new homes. Baseball won its home opener against Little Rock Christian 8-7 and the Lady Badger softball team went 1-1 at home with its first-ever win at Lady Badger Field coming Friday in an 11-5 win over Ouachita HS.

This week we wish good luck to the junior and senior high track teams at their first meets of the season. The junior high opens Monday in Benton and the senior high team is scheduled to open Thursday in Prescott.

We also wish good luck to those students trying out for the 2016-17 Goza Cheer squad. This week is the first week of tryouts with varsity cheer coming the week before Spring Break, the Dazzler dance team coming the week after Spring Break and the Goza Jazzler dance team rounding up the tryout season later in the semester.

In soccer, both teams will be home Monday night vs. Jacksonville Lighthouse and then the boys' team is scheduled to host Gurdon Thursday night in the annual battle for the Clark County Cup. Thankfully rain shouldn't be a problem because of AllCare Field, so we're looking forward to a fun night Thursday night.

Each week is a busy week for our student-athletes and coaches and we thank you for your support of their efforts throughout the year. Go Badgers!
