The spring semester is winding down on the calendar, but that means the spring sports schedules are heating up with post-season play on the horizon. Best of luck to all of our teams as they prepare for the stretch runs of their respective seasons.

THIS WEEK IS ANOTHER POTENTIAL WET ONE that could cause postponements and/or cancellations to events. As always, we will communicate decisions regarding schedule changes as soon as they are made and sometimes that means multiple changes in a day. Thanks for your patience and check our website, Facebook and Twitter pages regularly for updates. Notifications are available from our APSD website and from Twitter so you can be notified when changes are made.

THIS IS THE WEEK OF SENIOR NIGHT celebrations for our teams as all will be winding down the regular seasons over the next two weeks. Soccer and baseball are scheduled to have senior night ceremonies Tuesday and softball will celebrate senior night Thursday. See the graphic below for more details. If weather forces senior night changes, we'll post that at the outlets mentioned above.

OUR TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS will be busy this week as the senior high team will be heading to Nashville on Tuesday and the junior high teams will head to Ashdown Thursday for the 4A-7 Junior District meet. The Lady Badger junior high team has won the last two meets they have been in and will look to finish the season on a strong note. The junior high teams have had two high-point winners this season in Tajhanna McKenzie on the girls' side and Cannon Turner on the boys' side.

At the senior high level, sophomore Jasmine Gordon is putting together a quality season in both the 100 and 200. Gordon is tied for the second-fastest 100 time during the 2016 season AMONG ALL CLASSIFICATIONS! Gordon is also in the top 10 in the state in times posted in the 200 so far this season.

THE LADY BADGER SOFTBALL TEAM is 3-1 in 4A-7 play after a 7-6 win at Ashdown Friday night with a big week ahead. Arkadelphia is scheduled to face Bauxite, Mena and Malvern this week to round out the conference schedule, weather permitting. It's a tall task for the Lady Badgers as Bauxite and Mena are ranked in the top three in the state in one statewide softball poll. Bauxite won the Hwy. 67 Invitational over the weekend defeating schools form larger classifications including 7A Cabot in the finals. All three teams the Lady Badgers will face have been ranked in the top 10 in the state in 4A this season.

THE BADGER BASEBALL TEAM is in a four-way tie for first place in the 4A-7 as the Badgers, Ashdown, Nashville and Bauxite are all 4-1. The standings will shake out over the next few days as the teams prepare for the 4A-7 District Tournament in Bauxite next week. The Badgers had an exciting 5-4 win over previously undefeated Ashdown Friday night to set the four-way tie.
