Amy Sonheim from Ouachita Baptist University, wrote and received a Community Heritage grant. Goza Middle School students will benefit from the grant by getting to visit with a Young Adult author, and participate in a writers’ workshop.
On May 1, 2015, 8th graders will participate in a Writers’ Workshop, presented by Clare Vanderpool, author of Navigating Early and Moon Over Manifest. After their workshop, students will write short stories centered around their own sense of place and creativity.
Students will share their writings during a special celebration reception on May 20, from 6-7 p.m. Students’ writings will be on display, and some students will read theirs to the audience. The program will conclude with refreshments.
Eighth-grade students will bring home a brochure about the activities soon. Please mark this special date on your calendar and make plans to attend and support Middle Level Literacy.
