We welcome our final fall sport to join the fray in playing regular season games as this is week one for football-playing schools in the AAA. Now that all of our teams are in action other than just AAA benefit scrimmage games, we'll officially in full swing and will have a regular rhythm to the week.

THE BADGER FOOTBALL PROGRAM officially begins the season this week after faring well in scrimmages last week. The junior high Badgers open the season at Camden-Fairview Thursday night with a 5:30 and 7:00 kickoff. The varsity Badgers open the season at home in week one for the first time since J.R. Eldridge became head coach as they host Stuttgart Friday night. Prior to that will be the rescheduled Badgerfest presented by Southern Bancorp in the ASH parking lot. More details about the evening will be posted this week.

Week one games to this point in the Eldridge era have either been on the road or in The Buzz Kickoff Classic with the following results:

2011    at Sheridan                                Loss

2012    vs. Benton at War Memorial      Win

2013    at Benton                                   Win

2014    vs. Stuttgart at WMS                  Win

2015    vs. Stuttgart at WMS                  Win

THE AHS TENNIS TEAM WILL ATTEMPT TO begin the 2016 this Thursday after seeing its first two scheduled matches pushed back. Last week's scheduled season opener was rained out and a match with Nashville scheduled for this Tuesday was postponed as well. The Badgers and Lady Badgers will open the season Thursday at HSU vs. Baptist Prep (formerly Arkansas Baptist)

THE LADY BADGER VOLLEYBALL program celebrated a first last week as the 7th grade Lady Badgers got their first win as a team at Texarkana. The 7th grade will play an intrasquad match at AHS prior to the 8th grade match against Camden-Fairview Monday afternoon. For the varsity teams, conference play is just around the corner just two weeks into the season.

The complete list of athletic events this week is below. We hope you'll join us in supporting the Badgers and Lady Badgers this week!
