Golf, tennis and varsity football are the only teams at home this week, but even with a four-day week, it's still a busy one for APSD Athletics. The Lady Badger volleyball team is on the road Tuesday and Thursday and junior high football hits the road Thursday to Hot Springs.

VOLLEYBALL IS AT BAUXITE TUESDAY to kick things off. This was originally on the schedule to be a home match, but was changed to be a road match and the Lady Miners will come to Arkadelphia on September 29. The Lady Badger volleyball program will also travel to Fountain Lake where all teams will play on Thursday and the 7th grade Lady Badgers will play in their first jamboree action this Saturday at Malvern.

Jamborees feature several schools playing multiple 20-30 minute matches throughout the morning and usually begin around 8:30 - 9:00. Schedules will be distributed to team members when received by the host school, which usually falls in the middle of the week of the Jamboree when the host has confirmed who all will be in attendance.

AHS GOLF HAS A BUSY SHORT WEEK with matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. AHS will host a 10-team tournament Tuesday at DeGray, and has added a match on Wednesday also at DeGray. The Badgers and Lady Badgers will wrap up the week at Silver Springs GC in Benton at a tournament hosted by Bauxite.

AHS TENNIS will host Fountain Lake Thursday at the HSU courts. After opening its season last week at OBU vs. Nashville, the Badgers and Lady Badgers will host Fountain Lake Thursday at HSU.

THE BADGER FOOTBALL PROGRAM BEGAN WITH A BANG with wins from the Varsity and junior high teams. The 9th grade Badgers defeated Camden-Fairview 35-0 while the varsity Badgers opened the season with a 41-30 win over Stuttgart at home.

The 8th and 9th-grade Badgers ARE ON THE ROAD again this week at Hot Springs. Parents might have seen an earlier schedule with this game being at home, but it is on the road. The varsity Badgers will play their second-straight home game against the 6A Sheridan Yellowjackets Friday night at 7:00 at AllCare Field at Badger Stadium.
