BUILD A NEW, MODERN HIGH SCHOOL

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Arkadelphia residents will be asked to vote on a millage increase. The increase is aimed at generating funds to replace an older building. The Arkadelphia High School is ranked #26 on the state’s current Statewide Warm, Safe, and Dry Needs List.  That ranking means that of the 1,018 schools in the state, the 52-year old Arkadelphia High School building is rated as one of the worst schools in terms of age and condition. A new facility will meet the warm, safe, and dry state requirements while adding a safe room, a fine arts auditorium, a career education center, and an arena gymnasium:

  • Fine Arts Auditorium, which can be utilized for district-wide events.

  • Career Education Center to house an Agricultural Education Workshop and AHS Career Pathway Programs.

  • Sports Arena that meets requirements for hosting regional and state events, as well as our graduation ceremony.

  • Multi-use Covered Outdoor Field that will allow our students involved in activities such as band, JROTC, cheer, dance, and athletics, a safe place to practice and hold year-round events.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, thanks to the support of the Arkadelphia community, the millage proposal passed, 1126 (for) to 393 (against). We are incredibly grateful to everyone who got out to vote and made their voice heard.

We now look forward to fulfilling the promise of building a new, modern Arkadelphia High School facility for our students and staff. Your support will make a lasting impact, ensuring a warm, safe, and dry school environment for generations of high school students to come.

ARKADELPHIA MILLAGE RESOURCES

The Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation has awarded the district $19 million in state partnership funding to build a brand new high school. The high school building opened in the 1972-1973 school year. However, in order to receive the funds, the district has to have the support of the community to complete the project. If not, the money will go back to the state. State and school district officials would meet to discuss the facility needs of the school, and the state would require the district to submit a revised or alternate facility improvement plan for the school without state funding available.

The school board and administration hosted community meetings on Monday, November 3rd, at 12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the AHS Little Theater. The election was held on November 18 with polls opening at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 7:30 p.m. at the Arkadelphia Recreation Center. Early voting began November 12, 2025 each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
