Storms have postponed the first rounds of the 4A-7 Softball and Baseball tournaments scheduled for Wednesday to Thursday. As of right now, the Wednesday schedule will be pushed back one day with the same start times set for each tournament.
For Arkadelphia teams, the changes mean this:
BASEBALL: Thursday at 3:00 vs. Mena at the Ashdown City Park (1211 Gordon Drive, Ashdown, AR, 71822)
SOFTBALL: Thursday at 5:30 vs. Mena at Mena High School (1200 Dallas Avenue, Mena, AR, 71953)
Beyond Thursday's first round games, the conference administrators have penciled in a tentative plan with an eye on the weather that could change those plans.
It is highly likely for both tournaments that the semifinals and consolation/championship games could all be played on Friday in order to avoid the next round of storms in the forecast.
Monday could be an option for softball should the games not be able to be played on Friday, but Monday is not ideal for baseball teams as the newly installed pitch count rules could come into play with Regional play beginning next Thursday, May 4.
Winners of the Thursday first-round games and their fans need to have a thought that Friday could be an all day affair with the two semifinal game being followed by the championship games Friday night -- of course, weather permitting.
