Well, last week was a perfect example of how temporary spring sports schedules are. Flexibility is the key during weeks of rain and afterward as some teams have to shuffle schedules to accommodate make-up dates.
We understand that planning is important to families, so we will try to make sure to the best of our ability that schedule changes are made online and on social media outlets in a timely manner.
This week's forecast looks much better, so we'll hope that the meteorologists are correct and the Badgers and Lady Badgers of all teams can get back on the field.
ALTHOUGH NOT NECESSARILY in the Athletic Department, congratulations to the AHS Quiz Bowl team for its win at last week's Regional in Nashville which qualified the team for the state tournament in Dover. Best of luck to Quiz Bowl coach Steve Patterson (also our golf and boys' soccer coach....and faithful PA announcer) and his team as they try to win another state title.
BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL were supposed to play in the inaugural Southwest Sporting Goods/Russell Athletic Invitational over the weekend, concluding tomorrow, but the rains postponed the tournament. Tournament organizers are looking at a date for rescheduling and plans will be announced for our teams when finalized.
SPRING SEMESTER means it's time for spirit squad tryouts and we welcomed a new group Friday with the selection of the 2016-17 Goza cheerleaders. This week is tryout week for the 16-17 AHS cheer squad and the week after Spring Break will be tryout time for the AHS Dazzlers. The Goza Jazzler dance team will wrap up tryout season later in the semester after testing in complete at Goza.
