The Arkadelphia Lady Badgers will play the first game in the 4A-7 District Softball tournament today at 12:00 p.m. vs. Fountain Lake at Nashville City Park.

The Lady Badgers are the 5th seed and will need to defeat the 8-seed Lady cobras to advance to the quarterfinals to face 4-seed Malvern. The winner of the quarterfinal game qualifies for the 4A South Regional.

As was the case last year, the 4A-7 is a tough league in softball as three of last year's 4A State Tournament semifinalists returned quality rosters in state champion Mena, state runner-up Bauxite and state semifinalist Nashville.

In one 4A softball poll, four of the conference members are ranked in the top 10 in the state in 4A with Mena at No. 2, Bauxite at No. 3, Nashville at No. 4 and Malvern at No. 9. The Lady Leopards enter the District tourney coming off of a close 7-4 loss against No. 1-ranked Pottsville out of the 4A-4.

The Lady Badgers had two non-conference road wins at Hope and Pulaski Academy Monday and Tuesday to end the regular season.

Updates on today's games will be given on the APSD Facebook and Twitter pages. Two wins today would mean the Lady Badgers qualify for next week's 4A South Regional Tournament in Malvern.
