The Daughters of the American Revolution, Clark County Chapter, recently held its annual essay contest.  Students in Peake's 5th grade GT classes participated in this contest.  The essay topic this year required students to pretend that they were a child being processed as an immigrant at Ellis Island, New York during the years 1891-1954, explaining what it would be like.  Three students were recognized for their essays:  1st Place - John S.; 2nd Place - Kyle M.; 3rd Place - Joshua L.  These students were recognized in front of the student body and presented with certificates on February 9th by DAR members, Nancy Rucker and Peg Duncan.   In March, these students will attend a DAR tea in their honor and read their papers to the local DAR Chapter.  Congratulations to these students!
