Welcome and Overview

Welcome to the Arkadelphia High School Badger Battalion webpage.

On this page, you will find resources to help students, their families, and other community stakeholders to learn about us.

Our Mission:

"To motivate young people to become better citizens."

Our Battalion Motto:

"INVICTUS"

Programs

Our students, faculty, community partners, and other stakeholders are visible throughout the year. Our programs include the following:

  • Meet the Badgers ... an annual showcase of school programs

  • Drill Team ... a marching unit that performs routines based on military drill; cadets can perform either armed or unarmed drill during competitive drill competitions.

  • Color Guard ... a performance of the colors (the American flag) and our state flag being presented as a salute; competes at Drill Meet Competitions for chances at a new trophy to the Battalion.

  • Honor Guard ... a primary purpose for the Honor Guard is to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades and to guard national monuments; may also serve as the "guardians of the colors" by displaying and escorting the national flag on ceremonial occasions at official state functions.

  • Raider Team ... a group that practices physical and technical skills at both the individual and team levels; they perform tasks that may be found in a conventional Army unit such as the Physical Fitness Test, 5Km Runs, Rope Bridges, Land Navigation Courses, First Aid, Cross Country Rescue, Orienteering, and 5km Foot Marches.

  • Cyber Patriot ... the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.

  • Archery Team - The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is an in-school program aimed at improving educational performance among students in grades 4th – 12th. And through it, students are learning focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life.

If you would like to have our Color Guard perform or have any questions, please contact us.

Community Connections

Clark County Fair Parade (9/11/2024 @ 5:00 PM)

The Arkadelphia High School JROTC led the Clark County Fair Parade on the afternoon of September 11, 2024.

Of course, this was also an important date for our nation and reminds us to be appreciative of all who serve whether in the armed forces, who serve as first responders, or who are heroes to someone within their respective walks of life.

Thank you to all who participated in this community event and who reflected on the importance of this date.

Celebrating the Military Family Appreciation Month (November 2024)

Arkadelphia Public Schools will join other districts across the state in recognition of the military family.

November is designated as Military Family Appreciation Month. This is a time for the Department of Defense and the nation to honor the commitment and sacrifices made by military families.

This year's theme is "Taking Care of Our Military Families."

November was first declared as Military Family Month in 1996. Since then, November has been a time to acknowledge the tremendous sacrifices our military families make. They contend with separation from their families and make adjustments to new living situations and communities. Military Families embody strength, resilience, and courage. Care of military families and children sustains our fighting force, and strengthens the health, security, and safety of our nation's families and communities.

An update and resolution for consideration of the Board of Education will be presented as part of its November meeting.

Veterans' Day Ceremony (11/10/2023 @ 11:00 AM)

The Arkadelphia High School JROTC conducted a Veterans' Day Ceremony on the Clark County Courthouse grounds in the Armory building.

The AHS JROTC members honored local veterans today in a ceremony on the Clark County Courthouse grounds.

JROTC members participated in the ceremony along with JROTC Instructor Colonel Philip Foster.

Thank you to all the men and women who have bravely served and sacrificed for the freedom of our nation. Happy Veterans Day!

Celebrating the Month of the Military Child (April 2024)

Arkadelphia Public Schools will join other districts across the state in recognition of the military child.

April is designated as the Month of the Military Child; a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. Month of the Military Child is sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy and supported by many other organizations, including the ADE Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.

More than 14,000 Arkansans served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Many serve on active duty while others serve in the reserve forces and in the National Guard. More than 6,100 military children are enrolled in Arkansas public schools. Children of military families face unique academic and social challenges. The sacrifices they make because of their parents’ military service deserves special recognition.

An update and resolution for consideration of the Board of Education will be presented as part of its April meeting.

We also encourage our students, personnel, and community to wear purple clothing as we "Purple Up! for Military Kids Day" on April 19 across the state. This is Arkansas' celebration of the military child and to show their support for children of military families.

Military Spouse Day (May 10, 2024)

Arkadelphia Public Schools will join other districts across the state in recognition of the military spouse.

Military Spouse Day or Military Spouse Appreciation Day is celebrated on the Friday before Mother's Day in the United States. Many United States citizens take this day to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of spouses of their Armed Forces. President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of spouse commitment to the readiness and well-being of military members and declared May 23, 1984 the first Military Spouse Day with Proclamation 5184, dated April 17, 1984. The US Secretary of Defense, Caspar Weinberger standardized the date by declaring the Friday preceding Mother's Day as Military Spouse Day.
