AHS BHM2021

February is Black History Month.  A variety of activities and lessons at Arkadelphia High School incorporated the celebration of African American history, contributions, and achievements. Thank you to the adults and the students for their efforts to share and inspire African American History. AHS wants to share some of those experiences.

Mrs. Robin Jones’ Advanced Child Care Guidance, Management, and Services class prepared bulletin boards honoring the achievements and contributions of African Americans in history.  Mr. Ben Barras’ History students researched African Americans who contributed to the fields of technology and service learning as entrepreneurs. The students made flyers that were displayed throughout the school hallways.  Mr. Paul Sivils' book displays in the media center highlighted enrichment opportunities available to students and brought awareness to Black History Month. Ms. Nicole Freeman, Science Teacher,  daily shared “just a Few of the Many Great Black Scientists Who Have Made History” in a presentation with her students.

AHS students also had the opportunity to participate each day in Black History Month Trivia sent out by Mrs. Ashley Wesley. Winners received a free Chicken Express Snack Pack.  Mrs. Wesley also designed the Black History Month T-Shirt that displays this year’s theme, “Black History didn’t start with slavery and the celebration doesn’t end on February 28th.”  #BlackHistory365
