Arkadelphia High School Juniors and Seniors were able to visit with representatives from several colleges and universities at the College Fair held at Henderson State University today. A great opportunity as they consider important decision about their future after high school. #BadgerPride

Officer Dewayne Ward and Officer Chuck Fitzsimmons from the Arkadelphia Police Department spoke to students in Computer Science about the dangerous side of social media, digital citizenship, digital footprint, cyberbullying, and child pornography. Students engaged in discussions with the officers and were able to ask questions about the criminal side of internet safety.
Due to several student events going on this Thursday, we have rescheduled the Financial Aid night for October 18th. If you have started any applications and have questions, please feel free to have your student visit the AHS Counselor's Office. We hope to see everyone on October 18th.

AHS and Goza Middle School will host a flu shot clinic for the health department on Oct 11th in the morning. Flu shot forms will be in the AHS and Goza offices. Any student receiving a flu shot needs to have both the ADH flu form completed as well as the FERPA release form.

We had a great day Friday celebrating student growth from last spring's ACT Aspire. Thank you to everyone who made this possible! We appreciate Pastor Greg Lathem for grilling the burgers and hot dogs as well as a crew from the HSU Office of Admissions for serving the food to our students.

The homecoming hall decoration class competition is underway at AHS. Students are working on their designs from 3:30p.m. until 7:30p.m. through Thursday. The winners will be announced at the pep rally Friday. Come help your class! (And happy birthday BAM!)
AHS is inviting all senior parents and students to attend our Financial Aid Night. This week, students in Mrs. Stefanie Davis' Computer Programming Classes are learning how to analyze computer science concepts related to mathematics and are creating designs with Java Processing.
AHS FCCLA battled through the heat on Wednesday to participate in a Lake DeGray Clean-up Event with students from other Region 5 FCCLA chapters. They did an outstanding job and had a great time doing it! Mrs. Robin Jones is the AHS FCCLA Advisor. Thank you for keeping our community beautiful!

ATTENTION AHS Juniors & Seniors! You have a great opportunity to sign up for the AHS College Fair that will be on the campus of HSU. AHS Senior Calvin Clardy has been named a Semifinalist in the 68th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Calvin has the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship Competition for some 7,250 scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. Congratulations Calvin!

ATTENTION PARENTS:
If a student has not received a meningitis vaccine since turning 16 years old, it is due by October 1, 2021, per Arkansas law.
Letters have gone home with students who have not received the vaccine.
Please check your child's records and make sure this has been done. If not, please schedule an appointment ASAP.

Congratulations to AHS Seniors Blaise Batson, Calvin Clardy, and Seth Campbell who were among students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs!
The students are being recognized with the National Rural and Small Town Award. The National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors who excel on their PSAT or AP Exams and in their classrooms. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year, and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year.
