graduation annoucement

Arkadelphia High School will graduate 140 seniors Saturday, May 20 at the Duke Wells Gymnasium on the campus of Henderson State University, according to Principal Callie Hunley. The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m.

The Summa Cum Laude speech will be given by Savannah Zeiler. Ms. Zeiler is the daughter of Richard Zeiler and Sandra and Ronnie Land. She is a member of the Arkadelphia High School Band, the Color Guard and Winter Guard, and the National Honor Society. She is a four-year Badger Scholar and a Goza Middle School cadet guard leader.

The seniors chose Steve Patterson, English Teacher, to deliver the faculty challenge, which will be responded to by the 2022-23 Student Council President, Timothy Owen Morgan.

Parents of those who achieve Summa cum laude graduates(GPA of 4.001 or better and a composite ACT score of 21 or better with no sub-scores lower than 19), Magna cum laude (GPA of 3.750 to 4.000 and a composite ACT score of 20 or better with no sub score lower than 19), Cum laude (GPA of 3.500 to 3.749 and a composite ACT score of 19 or better with no sub score lower than 19), and/or Advanced Diploma status will present medallions to their children who have earned these distinctions. 

Senior class officers will direct the welcome, the Pledge of Allegiance, the introductions of Zeiler and Patterson, and the closing. Officers include Manning Elizabeth Blaise Batson, Senior Class President; Anna Leigh Derby, Vice President; Bailey Louise Boyles, Secretary; Gray Alan Manning, Treasurer; and Madelyn Anne Neel, Reporter. 

Commencement will be opened by the AHS JROTC Color Guard. The AHS Band, under the direction of Brandon Hanlon, will play the processional and the alma mater.  Diplomas will be awarded by Ms. Nikki Thomas, Superintendent of the Arkadelphia Public School District, and Ms. Callie Hunley, Principal of AHS. Assisting with the diplomas will be Mr. Trent Smith, AHS Assistant Principal, and Mr. Garrett Garner, Dean of Students.

Escorts for the Class of 2024 will be juniors who have earned the top grade points and include the following: Kourtni Foster, Noah Heard, Miles Jones, Ainslee Marrable, Bret Allison McDill, Kate Perrin, Catherine Turner, and Kahlea Wilson.
