Covid reporting notice

Arkadelphia Public Schools COVID-19 Reporting Notice

In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our staff and student body, we are asking all staff and parents/guardians of students who will be in attendance on-site for classes or activities to notify our designated Point of Contact immediately when the following occurs:

  • Someone in the household has tested positive for COVID-19
  • Someone in the household has been identified as a close contact to a positive case of COVID-19 and is requiring quarantine and/or testing for COVID-19.
  • Students attending on-site and employees who are being tested for COVID-19. If symptomatic, students/staff should remain in quarantine pending results of the COVID-19 test.

When notified of a positive case, the Point of Contact (POC) will work with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to identify probable close contacts. A probable close contact is anyone who has been within 6 feet of a positive person for 15 cumulative minutes in a 24-hour period. The POC is not a contact tracer, and the ADH will assign someone to each positive case once identified. The contact tracer will contact each positive case and those in quarantine.

We will notify a staff member or parent/guardian of a student identified as a probably close contact. Once identified, this does require a 14-day quarantine period, and we will provide guidance on further steps to take regarding your heath and return to work/school dates. We will NOT disclose the name of a positive case in isolation or those placed in quarantine due to contact.

POINT OF CONTACT:  Beth Hasley, 870-210-6791
