The Arkadelphia Board of Education is accepting letters of interest from those qualified to fill the Zone 3 vacancy on the APS Board of Education. The position, held by Mona Vance since Sept. 2016, is open after she announced her resignation from the board effective January 22, 2018. Vance’s term was set to expire in 2019.

“It has been a pleasure working with the district and for the voters in my zone,” Vance said in a letter to the district.

Registered voters who reside in Zone 3 should submit their letter of interest by February 5 to the following address:

Arkadelphia Public Schools Board of Education
Attn: Mr. Randy Turner, President
235 N. 11th St.
Arkadelphia, AR 71923

As required by law, the board will appoint a member to serve the remainder of the term.

“Ms. Vance served our community with support for our students, programs and staff,” APS Superintendent Dr. Donnie Whitten said. “We are grateful for her leadership and service. It has been a pleasure to work with her, and we wish her the best.”

Arkadelphia Public Schools serves more than 2,000 students in Clark County, Arkansas, ranging from 6-weeks-old through college- and career-readiness - and is home of the Arkadelphia Promise.
