2022 AHS COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION

Arkadelphia High School will graduate 125 seniors Saturday, May 21 at the Duke Wells HPER Gymnasium on the campus of Henderson State University, according to Principal Callie Hunley. The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m.

The Summa Cum Laude speech will be given by Joshua Adam LeVar. Mr. LeVar is the son of Alan and Erika LeVar. Mr. LeVar attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he is a member of the youth group.  He is a member of the AHS Band, the Quiz Bowl Team, the Soccer team, Cyber Patriot, and the National Honor Society.

The seniors chose Steve Patterson, English Teacher, to deliver the faculty challenge, which will be responded to by 2021-22 Student Council President, Landon Sanders Kuhn.

Summa cum laude graduates have earned a GPA of 4.001 or better and a composite ACT score of 21 or better with no subscores lower than 19. Summa cum laude graduates at the time of publication include the following: Colby Nathan Adair, Jarrett Allen Bell, Kennedy Paige Campbell, Audrey Danielle Cordero, Breanna Lynn Edington, Mohammad Abdullah Faiq, Mallery Nicole Gilbert, Tate Matthew Goodrum, Sierra Cynamon Haynes, Colby Ryan Helms, Katelyn Michelle Hunting, James Eric Jackson V, Tucker Grant Johnson, Joshua Adam LeVar, Lori Nicole Maxey, Nancy Susan Miller, Hannah Rebecca Moss, Colin Forrest Phillips, and Gracie Lou Simpson.

Parents of these graduates and of those who achieve Magna cum laude (GPA of 3.750 to 4.000 and a composite ACT score of 20 or better with no subscore lower than 19), Cum laude (GPA of 3.500 to 3.749 and a composite ACT score of 19 or better with no subscore lower than 19), and/or Advanced Diploma status will present medallions to their children who have earned these distinctions. 

Senior class officers will direct the welcome, the Pledge of Allegiance, the introductions of LeVar and Patterson, and the closing. Officers include Colby Nathan Adair, President; Tucker Grant Johnson, Vice President; Matthew Ropati Porter, Secretary; Tate Matthew Goodrum, Treasurer, and James Eric Jackson V, Reporter.

Commencement will be opened by the AHS JROTC Color Guard. The AHS Band, under the direction of Aaron Seel, will play the processional and the alma mater.  Diplomas will be awarded by Dr. Karla Neathery, Superintendent of the Arkadelphia Public Schools, and Ms. Callie Hunley, Principal of AHS. Assisting with the diplomas will be Mr. Trent Smith, AHS Assistant Principal, and Mr. Garrett Garner, Dean of Students.
