Clark County Relay for Life is this Friday, April 20th. The event will be at the Henderson State University Quad by the Garrison Center. It will last from 6:00 pm to midnight. A dinner will be provided for Cancer Survivors that attend. The AHS Beta Club and JROTC will be involved in the event. There will be food, games, and other activities related to the “Kick Cancer out of the Game” Theme that night. Local choirs, dance groups, and others will perform throughout the night.
The Debate Team is sponsoring a new event called Badger Congress. It is open to all students of AHS. They
will play the role of a representative in a mock congress set-up. Awards will be given for Best Representative(s) and Bill(s). Bonus points will be available for those who attend and more for those who participate. If anyone wants to be involved, please see Ms. Alexander.

Sign-up for 2018 Class Officer Elections and Executive Council Elections are this week. If you are interested, please pick up a petition to run for office in Mr. Patterson's room. Class officer positions available are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Reporter. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to run for office. Executive council positions include president, vice president, secretary, reporter, treasurer, first representative and second representative. Only seniors who have served on the Executive Council can apply for Student Council president, and only seniors can be
Student Council reporter.
Seniors, please go by the library and check with Mr. Sivils about any overdue books.

On Friday, April 6, 13 students from Arkadelphia High School Business Law class attended a workshop hosted by Alan LeVar Law Firms. Students participated in focus groups and experienced the jury deliberation process. Local attorney Alan LeVar provided students with practical application of tort law and trial presentation techniques. Mr.Gustaveson, course instructor, believes the workshop will help students develop vital connections between classroom curriculum and the application of law to our justice system. Javon Nash, an AHS senior, said, "The workshop showed me how the legal system really works. I am grateful that Mr. G and Mr. LeVar provided this opportunity for us."

Seniors who are applying for the Jackson and Adams Scholarships should be in the cafeteria by 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11. Park in the back and enter the school through the cafeteria doors. If you have questions, contact Ms. Slavens.

ARKADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT PROM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Arkadelphia High School Project Prom Committee is needing volunteers to help with Project Prom at Arkadelphia High School on April 14 from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Volunteers will help with activities, pick up donated food, and serve snacks. If you can volunteer, please contact Melissa Andrews at 870-403-8375 or respond to the poll on the "Arkadelphia High School Project Prom" Facebook page.
The purpose of this group is to help Project Prom continue so that Arkadelphia High School Juniors and Seniors (& Sophomores) have a safe place to celebrate with friends after Prom. Sophomores may attend Project Prom for $5. The money will be used for prizes for students.
This event has been enjoyed by hundreds of Arkadelphia students over the years. Let's join together to help this great tradition continue!
DRIVER’S TESTS: Driver’s Tests will now be given on Mondays at the Clark County Training Center in Gum Springs. The address is 35 McClellan Dr. Written exams are from 1 – 3:30 p.m. Driving exams start at 9 a.m. and are limited, so get there early to be put on this list.
The Clark County Project Prevention Youth Coalition is looking for new members. This organization is dedicated to reducing tobacco use in Clark County. The meetings are every Wednesday at 4:00 in the Internet Café. The President is Michael Evans, and you can contact him for more information.

April is national poetry month. There are poem pages posted on walls, lockers and windows in the building. Read them. If you find one you really like, take it with you. There will be more posted throughout the month.
