Mrs. Atkinson’s AP Physics classes are studying rotational motion and learning about torque. On Monday, students used meter sticks, rubber bands, paper clips, and different masses to explore how changing the pivot point, mass, or distance affected the rotational motion of the meter stick. Awesome!

AHS Art II Students took a field trip on Friday to Ouachita Baptist University. Donnie Copeland at OBU art department hosted Mrs. Eriksson’s Art students. Mr. Copeland taught the students how to marble paper by floating ink on water. The students then got to see some really great charcoal mixed-media portraits by the artist Adewumi and were able to do some gallery sketching.

With the expected arrival of winter weather moving into our area on Tuesday, the Arkadelphia School District will plan at this time to dismiss students at 1:00p.m. If the weather forecast changes throughout the night and into the early morning hours, further notifications may be sent in the morning if more precise timing determines an earlier than anticipated arrival.
Thank you.

Thank you to all the families who came to Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday! It was great to see you.
A shout to our Arkadelphia teachers, support staff, and principals for making it a great day. We appreciate your hard work.
Happy Valentine's Day! Enjoy your day off!

“TOY Around with a Good Book”
Librarian Paul Sivils has his toy collection on display now at AHS. He displays the toys each year which are mostly from kids’ meals he has purchased starting over 30 years ago. The toys represent book, movie, and TV characters. The exhibit has even been in a local art show. No doubt our graduates remember this!
Arkadelphia High School is offering the ACT to every sophomore and junior – for free! This is an incredible opportunity for our students to improve their scores, boost their college applications, and open doors for scholarships and future opportunities.

10th Grade: Wednesday, April 9
Students can start preparing now! Here are some ways they can get ready:
✅ Practice, Practice, Practice – Use free ACT resources like act.org or study through ACT prep books and apps. (https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-preparation/free-act-test-prep.html)
✅ Take Timed Practice Tests – Get familiar with the test format and work on pacing yourself.
✅ Review Key Content Areas – Brush up on math formulas, grammar rules, reading strategies, and scientific reasoning.
✅ Get Plenty of Rest – A well-rested brain performs better! Aim for a full night’s sleep before test day.
✅ Eat a Healthy Breakfast – Fuel up with a good breakfast to stay focused and energized.

On Monday, the Chemistry lab at AHS underwent a significant improvement in safety and organization. Susan Allison, the science specialist from Dawson Education Cooperative, joined forces with our dedicated science teachers—Rachel Green, Staci Johnson, and Julie Bradshaw—to reorganize and optimize the laboratory chemical storage closet.
Together, the team ensured that all chemicals were stored in their proper and safe order, cleaned the space thoroughly, and learned the best practices for properly disposing of chemicals after laboratory experiments. As part of this process, Susan also led a short, hands-on lesson for the AP Chemistry students, giving them valuable practical experience.
