Arkadelphia Public School District is working with local officials to assess the transportation situation for Monday’s school day. Below are the current changes to bus routes for Monday. School officials will be talking with local law officials this afternoon, and we will pass on more updates as they come. Thank you for being so patient as we get this information to you. **Parents–if our buses cannot get to your bus stop or you are unable to get your child to school due to the effects of the storms, please call your child’s school once the school office is open for an excused absence. As of Sunday, April 6th, the following routes will be affected on Monday, April 7: -Route 14 (Manchester/Dalark) cannot run at all. -Route 1 (Joan) will pick up normal times, but may arrive a few minutes late for school because they will have to come into town through Donaldson. -Route 17 (Open Banks) will be able to run the in-town portion of the route, but will not be able to go down past the church on 3rd Street or Open Banks. -Route 13 (Okolona) will have to come into town via I-30 because the Hwy. 51/53 junction is washed out. The bus will not be able to pick-up students on Bateman Road or Shilo Road because the bridge on Bateman Road is washed out. We will continue to update the page linked below on our website as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding. https://www.arkadelphiaschools.org/article/2131557

It was a “Tragedy of the Common” lesson for AP Environmental Science students in Mrs. Tiffany Edwards’ class. Students conducted a lab on the issues relating to public resources. This activity gave them an ocean to fish in, and they had to have it sustain the entire group for four years. If they overfished their resource, they would not be able to provide for their family. This lesson brought attention to hunting and fishing regulations, free grazing, air pollution, and fossil fuel consumption. #BadgerPride

Mrs. Atkinson’s AP Physics classes are studying rotational motion and learning about torque. On Monday, students used meter sticks, rubber bands, paper clips, and different masses to explore how changing the pivot point, mass, or distance affected the rotational motion of the meter stick. Awesome! #BadgerExcellence

AHS Art II Students took a field trip on Friday to Ouachita Baptist University. Donnie Copeland at OBU art department hosted Mrs. Eriksson’s Art students. Mr. Copeland taught the students how to marble paper by floating ink on water. The students then got to see some really great charcoal mixed-media portraits by the artist Adewumi and were able to do some gallery sketching. #BadgerExcellence
