Students, staff, and families please enjoy your Spring Break March 23-27. We will be working during the break as information and guidance are provided to make decisions regarding AMI work, information for seniors, and AHS graduation. More information will be posted on Monday, March 30th.
Dear Staff, Students, Parents, and Community Members,
As you may already know, Arkadelphia School District and all other schools in the state have been directed, by Governor Asa Hutchinson, to be closed through April 17th, and continue with AMI days. We understand that this has a significant impact on all families as well as the community. In these unprecedented times, we must remain committed to the safety and well-being of all we serve.
Since the initial closing of school, our maintenance and custodial staff have been hard at work sanitizing and cleaning all surfaces. The Child Nutrition staff has worked to ensure that students were continuing to be fed. Our office staff as well as all administrators have been working to ensure everyone’s needs are being met. The teachers, counselors, technology department and other staff members have been great at ensuring that students are still learning, and their needs are being met.
We will continue to remain committed to serving district needs as they arise. While school may look different than it has in the past, we will adapt and get through this process together. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
In the times ahead, directives and guidance may change concerning people being on-site and how we do business as a district. We will follow the guidance from state and federal officials to ensure the safety of all involved. Please know that you can contact staff members via email during this time.
Thank you to the Arkadelphia community for the outpouring of support through schools, various organizations, businesses and churches in our community. It makes me proud to be a Badger! We appreciate all of your patience and understanding as we get through this together. We look forward to seeing you on April 20, 2020.
Sincerely,
Dr. Karla Neathery
Superintendent
Arkadelphia School District

After receiving direction from Governor Asa Hutchinson, Arkadelphia School District will be utilizing Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days 1-5 beginning Monday March 16. AMI instructions will come from each building principal. At this time, students will return Monday, March 30. Please continue to check our website and/or social media sites for updated information throughout the week.
Parents, Students, and Staff,
At this time, Arkadelphia Public Schools currently plans to be open next week (March 16-20). We fully understand your concerns. We are monitoring attendance and will remain in close contact with state agencies. At this time we have not been directed to close. Any changes or updates will be publicized by the district. We know this is a period of transition marked with numerous questions and concerns. We are in this together, and we will work to keep you informed. Thank you for your cooperation and have a great weekend! Dr. Karla Neathery, Superintendent

A message from AAA about spring sports:

COVID-19 UPDATE FROM ARKADELPHIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
Many have asked if APS plans to cancel classes due to the pandemic of the Coronavirus, we will defer to the Education Commissioner for that decision.
Governor Asa Hutchinson included in his statement Wednesday "the Secretary of Health, in consultation with the Secretary of Education, shall have sole authority to close public school campuses throughout the state for reasons related to COVID-19." Therefore, the decision to cancel classes due to this emergency will be made at the state government level, not by the local school district.
