The 2014 AHS 4A State Championship Baseball team will be recognized at Friday's game. Former players from that team are asked to gather with Coach Matros on the track. There will also be a tailgate at 6 p.m., in front of Goza. RSVP to Coach Brant Matros at 870-403-2914.
VOLLEYBALL SENIOR NIGHT! Tonight the Lady Badger Volleyball team takes on Waldron at home. Seniors will be recognized before the start of the Varsity game. There will be three games this evening starting with the 8th Grade Lady Badgers at 4:30 p.m. followed by the 9th Grade game, Senior Recognitions, and Varsity game.

The Badger Tennis teams competed at the 4A-7 District Tournament on Monday. Our boys finished as Co-Champions! The girls finished in 3rd place at the District Tournament. Each competitor placing 1st-3rd place qualified to participate in the 4A State Tournament in Clarksville on October 14th.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated yearly in the U.S. from September 15 to October 15. Special emphasis is placed on the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Mrs. Kathy Crow is the ESOL Interventionist at Peake Elementary School. During National Hispanic Heritage Month she is visiting classrooms to share a brief description of her role which includes how she works with students throughout her school who may be from different countries, have family members who speak different languages, or the students themselves may speak a different language than English.
Mrs. Crow also reads a book called Your Name is a Song by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow to students. Mrs. Crow shares that this book is a story of a girl's frustration because her first day of school was full of teachers and classmates mispronouncing her beautiful name. In response, the girl's mother teaches her about the musicality of names from various cultures on their lyrical walk home through the city. Empowered by this newfound understanding, the young girl is ready to return to school the next day to share her knowledge with her class. Your Name is a Song is a celebration to remind all of us about the beauty, history, and magic behind names.

This year, Staci Johnson joined the faculty at Arkadelphia High School as the Physical Science teacher. Ms. Johnson is a graduate of Gurdon High School and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She loves reading and spending time with her three children. Ms. Johnson says her daughter is one of her inspirations for choosing to be an educator. Welcome Staci Johnson!

Arkadelphia Public Schools welcome Lexis Cagle to Peake Elementary as a first-grade teacher. Ms. Cagle is a graduate of Marion High School and Ouachita Baptist University. On Friday, Kate Templeton from the National Park Service spoke to 7th and 8th-grade students at Goza Middle School. Ranger Templeton has been with the U.S. National Park Service for almost five years; she has been stationed at Hot Springs National Park for the past three years. She shared a variety of jobs that are available through the Park Service and what the duties of those jobs might be. Thank you for coming!

This year, Casey Braswell joined the faculty at Arkadelphia High School as the World History teacher. Mr. Braswell’s hometown is Tupelo, Mississippi where he graduated from high school. The Arkadelphia High School AP Program is excited to announce an AP Incentive!
This incentive will be given to any student who scores a 3, 4, or 5 on any end-of-course Advanced Placement (College Board) Exam.
The AP Incentive is meant to add quality to our existing AP program by encouraging student interest in taking AP classes and helping students see the importance of the AP Exam.
We are also happy to announce that this incentive will apply to the Spring 2024 AP Exams.
Any student who scores a 3, 4, or 5 on any 2024 AP Exam will be given this incentive.
The amount of the incentive will be determined by how many 3-5 scores the student received on their exams.
