Here's what is happening this week in the Arkadelphia Public School District. Tomorrow is Senior Night for Lady Badger Volleyball! Thursday is Parent Teacher Conferences from 2:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. There is NO SCHOOL for students on Thursday and Friday of this week.

What an amazing turnout on Thursday evening for the Perritt Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) Kickoff! Thank you to all the men who came & then signed up to spend a day at our school. We appreciate the hard work of the Perritt staff to make this happen!

October is National Principals Month! Today, we are recognizing the principal at Peake Elementary School, Mary Snowden, Ms. Snowden loves being the principal at Peake. Here are some of the reasons why: “First, I love my students! It is so amazing to watch them grow physically and academically from the beginning of the year to the end. Getting to know them, seeing their smiles, and accepting their hugs and greetings, makes me look forward to coming to work every day! Second, we have a fantastic staff who work hard every day to help ensure the success of our students. From teachers and paraprofessionals to custodians and cafeteria staff, everyone pulls together to make sure our school is operating at its best, willing to do whatever is needed. Sixth Grade Teacher Meridith Armstrong and Eighth Grade Teachers Elizabeth Hill and Christy Smith have been selected into the Cohort IV of the High Reliability Teacher Certification Program. The three Goza Middle School teachers will join 15 other educators selected by the Arkansas Department of Education in this cohort. The High-Reliability Teacher (HRT) program encourages and celebrates teacher effectiveness and recognizes the advancement of a teacher’s pedagogical skills and knowledge through the effective use of instructional strategies, student learning, and valid and rigorous feedback. Thank you, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Hill, and Mrs. Smith for your commitment to education. Congratulations! #BadgerPride

October is National Principals Month! Today, we recognize Stephanie Givens, Perritt Primary School Principal. Mrs. Givens says she loves being principal at Perritt for multiple reasons: "One of them is the STELLAR staff and faculty that work hard every day. Another highlight is the contagious energy for learning that students bring every morning. You can not help but smile when you walk down the halls of Perritt Primary. I am honored to be here!" Last Friday, PLC teams from each of our schools participated in professional development at Dawson Co-op with Rich Smith from Solution Tree. The work we do in our Professional Learning Communities is a key factor to improving student achievement. #BadgerPride

Goza Middle School students have been involved with Teen Safety Sessions. Tawana Williams of the Percy & Donna Malone Child Safety Center presented this week in Health classes. The Center has been a valuable partner to educate our students on staying safe. We appreciate them!

Each week, Blake Bell presents the Southwest Auto Collection Players of the Week after Thursday’s practice. Players recognized for the Mena game were Evan Bailey (special teams), Max Wilson (defensive), and Kourtney Brown (offensive). This week’s Spirit Award went to Dr. Jeff Root, Voice of the Badgers. Dr. Root is currently in his 35th year of broadcasting Arkadelphia Football. Thank you to Dr. Root for giving your Friday nights to bring us Badger Football! Next Friday, the undefeated Badgers will celebrate Senior Night at Badger Stadium against Waldron. The Badgers have a bye tonight. #BadgerPride

Mrs. Howell's Kindergarten Class was chosen to have Pizza with Police. The class did great with their cafeteria behavior this month! Thank you to the Arkadelphia Police Department for supporting our students and to Patterson Federal Credit Union for providing pizza! #BadgerPride

Paula Keeling, Dana Tuggle, Kaila Murphy, and Charlotte DeWitt were recognized at the Kiwanis’ Feeding Kids, Feeding Futures Dinner and Dessert Fundraiser over the weekend. Kiwanis is a vital supporter of our Backpack Program that provides food for many of our students during after-school hours. Paula and Dana provided an update on distribution this year. Kaila and Charlotte (not pictured) were recognized with an Impact Award for their work with Books For Badgers. These programs are making a difference in the lives of our students!
