Goza Middle School FBLA members competed at the 2024 State Leadership Conference in Little Rock on Monday. These students were eligible for the state events based on their performance at the District IV Conference. The following students were recognized at the SLC and qualified for the 2024 FBLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando: Jadyn Thompson - 1st place - Elevator Speech Spirit Golden - 2nd place - FBLA Mission & Pledge Tiana Berry - 3rd place - Exploring Business Issues Jack Copeland - 3rd place - Exploring Computer Science Abigail Crocker - 3rd place - Interpersonal Communication Izabella Morris - 3rd place - FBLA Concepts Zoey Windham - 3rd place - Community Service Presentation The members were accompanied by Goza FBLA Adviser Lakesha Berry, Jequetta Berry, and Sharon Ford. Perritt Friday Art Students were outside Friday making Plein Air paintings with Mrs. Taylor and her intern Ms. Burson. These kindergarten students did so well. We are getting pretty nostalgic about the lovely Pierce Garden at Perritt, such an inspirational place for students to create. Have a great Monday! #BadgerPride

Students from Goza and AHS had the opportunity to visit the Arkansas FFA State Convention that was held last week in Hot Springs. Future Farmers of America (FFA) is the student organization for Agricultural Education. While at the convention, the students met our new Agricultural Teacher Mr. Robert Cox who will join the Arkadelphia High School staff next school year. We look forward to great things for our future program! #BadgerPride

We are proud of our AHS Quiz Bowl team who never gave up yesterday as they fought to repeat as 4A State Quiz Bowl Champions. Though the outcome was not what Arkadelphia hoped, we are proud of these students and their coaches for representing Arkadelphia Public Schools. Congratulations on being the 4A State Quiz Bowl Champion Runner-Up! #BadgerPride

Nine AHS Biology Students attended the 2024 Gene Hackathon hosted by Ouachita Baptist University's Biology Department. Students were paired with an OBU Biology major and learned to annotate the genome of a bacteriophage called WISP, which was discovered by OBU students. Bacteriophages (or phages) are the viruses that infect bacteria. The information students were able to record about the phage will be stored in a national database. This information may become the basis of future experiments in the field of phage biology. Two of our students had this to say about the experience, "The day was really fun but also super educational" and "It was a lot to learn at first but we got really good at annotating the genes by the end of the day!". The students were accompanied by Biology Teacher Jill Hardin. #BadgerPride

Congratulations to the Arkadelphia Badgers for reaching the Arkansas Governor’s Quiz Bowl Championships! The 4A championship match between Trumann and Arkadelphia will air on Arkansas PBS at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. We greet you this Friday morning with a Badger Pride Recognition for Pastor Greg Lathem who is so faithful to greet our Perritt students and staff as they arrive each day at school! Brother Greg was recognized at the April Board meeting for his ongoing support of Perritt, highlighting his most recent role serving as the Master of Ceremonies at this year's Chili Supper and Art Show. Goza Middle School Paraprofessionals Sharon Ford, Beverly Meeks, Karen Turner, and Angela Whitworth, were recognized in the April School Board meeting with a Badger Pride Award. Principal Tisha Hunter nominated the group and shared that they “are truly unsung heroes. They help create an inclusive, supportive, and adaptive learning environment that enables all students to thrive. We are immensely grateful for their compassion, expertise, and the profound impact they make every day.
