Unfortunately, road conditions continue to be hazardous, and overnight temperatures will once again be below freezing. For the safety of our students and staff, the decision has been made that classes are cancelled and the Arkadelphia School District will be closed on Thursday, January 29, 2026. According to our adopted 2025-26 school calendar, our make-up days will now be February 16, April 3, and May 21, 2026.

The Arkadelphia School District Board of Education approved the 2026–2027 school calendar during its meeting on January 20th. Next school year will be the third consecutive year the district has utilized an alternative calendar, meaning it is based on the total number of instructional hours students attend school rather than the traditional count of student days. We have been celebrating our Arkadelphia Board of Education which includes members Blake Bell, President–Zone 5; Ida Tramble Vice President–Zone 3; Gina White, Secretary–Zone 7; Dr. Kenneth G. Harris Jr.–Zone 2; Matt Johnson–Zone1; Lori Smith–Zone 4; and Clark Tennyson–Zone 6.
Before our January School Board meeting, Nabholz Construction prepared a delicious steak dinner for the board members. Desserts were provided by SFE Food Services. We are grateful to both organizations for this special recognition for the board.
During the meeting, Superintendent Nikki Thomas shared proclamations by Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders and Arkadelphia Mayor Scott Byrd declaring January as School Board Recognition Month. Each board member was presented an ASBA Certificate of Recognition and some Badger swag. The Arkansas School Board Association's theme for the 2026 celebration is “Answering the Call.” Thank you to the Arkadelphia School for your dedication and leadership. We appreciate you!

During our January School Board meeting, Nicole McGough, from Patterson Federal Credit Union, presented a $10,000 check to Arkadelphia Public Schools through the Acorn Project. Nicole shared news of the generous increase in financial support for the Acorn Project since the beginning of the school year, as our community has answered the challenge to donate toward meeting basic needs our students may lack at home, including food insecurity. Our district counselors were honored to receive the check and look forward to continuing their partnership with Nicole, PFCU, and the Acorn Project. This is a reminder that if winter weather causes the school to close or delay, the information at the link below outlines how the Arkadelphia Public School District will communicate the closing or delay to district families and the public.
This message was sent earlier this afternoon to parents via email and text using the contact information in our student information system. If parents/guardians did not receive an email or text message, please contact your child’s school office to verify contact information.

Big news for Goza Middle School!
Goza has been awarded an $18,000 Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Division of Rural Services Grant to support Outdoor Education Initiatives. This funding will help strengthen and expand key programs at Goza, including a Mountain Biking program, Stream Team/Water Quality program, Archery program, Outdoor Classroom, and the storage and equipment needed to run these opportunities safely and consistently.
A special thank you to Mr. Michael Ankton, who served as the grant writer for this award and has helped lead Goza’s Outdoor Education initiative.
And Goza is not stopping here! Our next phase includes working toward electric ATVs ️ so we can teach ATV safety, outdoor responsibility, and expand hands-on learning opportunities for students.

🏀 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE UPDATE: Due to Friday's weather threat, Varsity games vs. Nashville that were scheduled to be played at home Friday are now moving to TOMORROW (1/22) AT Nashville following the Jr. High games. NO games will be played now on Friday (1/23).
The start time for the Jr. High Girls game is 4:00 PM at Nashville High School; the Jr. High Boys, Sr. High Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys games will follow.
Note: The Sr. High Varsity games scheduled at Nashville on Feb. 17th will now be played at HOME! See you there!
AHS students once again have an opportunity to participate in the Pinnacle School of Real Estate Pre-license course that prepares them to take the real estate exam upon completion. This year, Crye-Leike Pro Elite Realty is offering this free opportunity to our students. Arkadelphia Crye Leike owner Kim Byrd is presenting the instruction to our students. The students meet multiple times a month in Mrs. Cloninger’s class and will accumulate 60 hours of instruction this spring. Thank you, Crye Leike Real Estate, for investing in our students!

Today, we pay tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the most transformative leaders of the civil rights movement who will not be forgotten. His iconic "I Have a Dream" speech was delivered during the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963. Let’s keep that dream alive.

Today in Ms. Judith Davis’ class, Arkadelphia High students honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through research and creativity. 🌳 The students identified five of Dr. King’s core characteristics and displayed them on a "character tree" to reflect on the meaning of Monday’s holiday.
