During the February Arkadelphia Board of Education meeting, members of the Arkadelphia High School FBLA gave a presentation on Career and Technical Education. February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month and the FBLA team shared an overview of CTE, AHS CTE Pathways, and CTE Student Organizations on campus. The students also gave the board a local FBLA chapter report of the competitions, conferences, and community service projects they have been involved with over the past year. AHS FBLA has 92 members; Ashley Wesley and Kristin Cloninger serve as AHS FBLA Advisers. Congratulations to AHS Student Timothy LeVar for receiving the Arkansas Advanced Placement Computer Science A Incentive Program Award. Under this program, Arkansas Public School students earn one computer science flex credit for completing the AP Computer Science A course and receive a financial incentive for earning a qualifying score on the AP Exam. In the spring of 2024, Timothy scored a 3 on the exam which qualified him to receive $250 and AHS $50. Outstanding accomplishment! #BadgerPride

Some of the AHS Juniors and Seniors attended today’s Clark County Career Expo and Job Fair at the fairgrounds. This event provided the opportunity to explore career options found within the local and surrounding areas. Students were able to speak with professionals about various career opportunities, view the equipment used in these professions, and participate in hands-on learning experiences. #BadgerPride

Brother Greg Lathem was recognized at the February Arkadelphia School Board meeting with a Badger Pride. He was nominated by Mrs. Sydney Miller at Peake who shares that for many years at Perritt, Bro. Greg was faithful to greet students each morning during car rider duty. Now that the schools have merged into the new Peake Elementary building, he continues to pour his heart into the students by showing up each morning and greeting them by name lighting up the faces of each one. Thank you, Bro. Greg for helping our students and staff start the school day off right! #BadgerPride

Congratulations to AHS 10th Grade Student Caden Whitaker for receiving a Badger Pride Award at last week’s Arkadelphia School Board meeting! February’s Capturing Kids Hearts Word of the Month was respect. Caden was nominated by English Teacher Rose Easley who says Caden is the definition of respectful. He is very well-mannered and kind to his peers and teachers. He always has a good attitude and meets or exceeds all classroom expectations. So proud of you Caden! #BadgerPride

Congratulations to the Peake Badgers on the Run who completed their final mile on Saturday at the Little Rock Marathon! The students began running in November after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays at least one mile. Over 100 first through sixth-grade students committed to completing the 25.2 miles at school. Thank you to Peake teacher Barbara Hesse for organizing this opportunity for the students. We are so proud of all of you! #BadgerPride

Members of the Arkadelphia Board of Education visited Arkadelphia High School on Monday. They engaged in conversation with representatives from the student body while eating lunch. Board members were invited to arrive early to observe the Reality Fair being held that day for juniors. Some of them even participated in the activities. #BadgerPride

The Arkadelphia Public School District is excited to announce that Goza Middle School has been recognized by the Office for Educational Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school where students demonstrated high growth on the 2024 Arkansas ATLAS Examinations! Thursday evening, the annual Chili Supper continues at Peake, along with another very special tradition—the Art Show. Not only will artwork be on display, but everyone will also have the opportunity to purchase their own piece of student art. Students have been working diligently in Mrs. Amy Taylor’s art class to prepare for the evening. And, as many know, there is always one special piece of artwork sold by live auction—a collaborative masterpiece featuring the touch of all Peake students and staff. This year’s piece is inspired by Picasso’s Flowers of Peace, symbolizing a passing of the torch—multiple elementary schools achieving great things and coming together as Peake to continue the pursuit of excellence! Arkadelphia High School Senior Faith Williams was celebrated at Monday’s School Board meeting with a Badger Pride Award. Faith is the first AHS student to be named to the ASU-Three Rivers Chancellor's List while still attending high school. To be eligible for this recognition, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 college hours and earn an A in all classes. We are so proud of you Faith! Congratulations! #BadgerPride

Congratulations to the AHS JROTC Archery Team for winning at the Watson Chapel JROTC Archery Competition on Saturday, Feb 22nd. They took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Boys group; and 1st and 2nd place in the Girls group. They also earned 1st Place Overall. AHS hosted what has become its annual Reality Fair on Monday! Students had the opportunity to create a budget based on their anticipated post-graduate earnings. The Arkadelphia High School Black History Committee presented Resilience-Excellence-Legacy at the Annual Black History Assembly held in February. Each year during the celebration, members of the local community are recognized. This year’s recipients received awards for their resilience, excellence, and legacy thus impacting and inspiring lives in our community. Recognized this year are Karen Ford, Sharon Ford, Destinee Seabrooks-Roberson, Caiden Dickerson, Myles Harper, and the Peake High School Alumni Foundation. The program also included ‘Lift Every Voice’ sung by the AHS Black History Committee Choir and HSU NPHC presentations. The AHS Black History Committee is chaired by Mrs. Ashley Wesley. #BadgerPride #BlackHistoryMonth

Congratulations to all our Spelling Bee Grades 4-8 Students who represented their class, grade, school, and district so well today at the Clark County Spelling Bee! Arkadelphia students Lucas Feller and Martin Stover earned first and second place respectively; Gurdon 7th grader Callen Johnson placed third. Lucas, a Peake fourth-grade student, will represent Clark County at the Arkansas Spelling Bee next month.
