Goza Middle School hosted its 2nd Annual Black History Assembly in the Lecture Hall at Henderson State University this afternoon. Members of the Goza Student Council welcomed the 7th & 8th grade students in attendance; conducted Black History Trivia with prizes; and recognized Goza staff that held membership in Greek organizations. This year the event was in partnership with the HSU NPHC. Ashlee Dixon, Director of Greek Life and Student Engagement at HSU introduced representatives of the seven chapters of the Divine Nine currently chartered on the campus. Thank you to Mr. Ankton, the Goza Student Council, and HSU NPHC for their work to celebrate Black History with our students.

The kindergarten team at Peake Elementary got a new member this semester! Sarah Fogerty was brought on this semester as a kindergarten teacher. Ms. Fogerty has served as a substitute including a long-term position at Peake. Welcome to the team Sarah Fogerty!

The Arkadelphia School District will be open tomorrow, Thursday, February 20th. The transportation director has driven bus routes and they are clear and safe for bus travel. Please use caution if driving in the morning. Bridges could have some ice patches after tonight’s low temps. Take it slow and be safe.
In accordance with our adopted 2024-25 school calendar, today’s school day will be made up on Friday, April 18th (Good Friday). Any future days missed will be added starting on May 22nd. Currently, May 21st is our last scheduled school day for this year.

Due to the impending winter weather, the Arkadelphia School District Board of Education meeting scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled to Monday, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. School board meetings are held upstairs in Dawson Building #3 at the corner of 7th & Clinton St.

With the expected arrival of winter weather moving into our area on Tuesday, the Arkadelphia School District will plan at this time to dismiss students at 1:00p.m. If the weather forecast changes throughout the night and into the early morning hours, further notifications may be sent in the morning if more precise timing determines an earlier than anticipated arrival.

This weekend on Super Bowl Sunday, Arkadelphia High School Badger Football Player Peyton Wesley will be featured on Fox16 Good Day Arkansas Big Game Edition at 9:00 am and Fox16 Late News that night after the game. KLRT Fox16 Sportscaster Wess Moore visited the Badger fieldhouse last week to talk to Peyton about his love for the Badgers. Coach Trey Schucker, Peyton’s mother Ashley Wesley (AHS Teacher), and some of his teammates shared their perspectives on how the Badgers inspire Peyton and Peyton inspires the Badgers.
