A few weeks ago, during the final Voices of Leadership session, FBLA welcomed Caroline Derby of KARK 4 News. During that visit, senior Kalyn Garrett made a meaningful connection.
Last Thursday, that connection came full circle as Kalyn was invited to shadow Caroline and get a behind-the-scenes look at broadcast journalism in action. With plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in communications, this was a powerful opportunity to get a close-up glimpse into her future career. She also got to make an appearance on Caroline’s RECAP podcast for KARK Ch. 4 at https://youtu.be/uVP0A5YBM5o?si=qMivRItJyhBjvgtv
Experiences like this highlight the importance of connecting classroom learning to real-world opportunities.
