For more than 40 years, March has been designated as Music In Our Schools Month! 🎶 The positive impact of music education on the lives of students lasts a lifetime.

Every day, in classrooms and rehearsal rooms across our school district, music educators dedicate themselves to reaching all students with life-changing musical experiences. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often see the wonderful results of music performances—but behind the scenes are months of practice, rehearsals, and most importantly, a deep learning process that makes it all possible. 🎹

A huge thank you to our dedicated music teachers:
Peake Elementary: Laura Cornelius & Ansley Webb
Goza/AHS Band: Larry Brown, Ondrea Green, & Bryan Sandoval
Goza/AHS Choir: Aaron McCain

We acknowledge and celebrate music education as an essential part of every student’s educational journey. 🎼✨

Last Saturday, the Arkadelphia High School JROTC held its annual Military Ball. It was a memorable evening celebrating tradition, leadership, and community. One of the highlights of the event was a keynote address delivered by School Resource Officer Cpl. Randy Lau. He shared a powerful message centered on leadership, character, and service.

At the event, JROTC Senior McKenzie Yeagle was awarded a $500 scholarship from Mark Batson on behalf of the Batson Family. Colleen Herron and Zaylee Dinger were awarded $50 gift cards for being the top sellers during the two fundraising events.

You can read more about the event, including Cpl. Lau's message on our website at https://www.arkadelphiaschools.org/article/2758980

AHS Art Students in Mrs. Candace Eriksson’s Class recently visited the OBU art department to see a pottery wheel demonstration by an OBU Art Student. Also, OBU Professor Carey Roberson taught AHS students how to make cyanotype prints. They used a treated light-sensitive paper to make arrangements with objects and leaves, then used UV light from the sun to expose the paper, which transformed the paper into small works of art. Thank you to the OBU Art Department for this opportunity for our students!

Another successful Chili Supper and Art Show last week at Peake Elementary! What makes them so special? The Roy and Sammy inspired student art, having KARK live, good chili and cinnamon rolls, student choirs, and amazing PTA volunteers working alongside the Peake staff to go above and beyond in welcoming our community and raising funds to support their school, just to name a few of the things. Special thanks to the Beene family for purchasing the always unique art piece during the live auction and to everyone who came!
