On March 11, AHS FFA competed at the Southern District FFA competition at SAU. Students competed in four Career Development Events (CDE): Electronics, Livestock, Poultry, and Vet Science. The poultry team of Kelsey Boyles, Kaylee Diehl, Scarlett Hasley, and Amelia Price qualified to compete in the State FFA Career Development Events held on April 4 at the UA Fayetteville.

Congratulations to the Arkadelphia High School Band for earning the 2024-2025 Sweepstakes Award with all Superior ratings in Marching Band, Concert Band, and Sightreading! The band qualified for the 2025 ASBOA State Concert Assessment.
Congratulations to the Goza Middle School Intermediate and Advanced Bands for earning Superior ratings on the stage and sightreading at the ASBOA Region II Concert Assessment!
This afternoon, the high school band will host Spring Fling for 8th-11th grade students. The 2025 Marching Band show theme will be announced. There is a parent meeting in the cafeteria at 6:30p.m.
The AHS Winter Guard competed over the weekend in their first-ever WGI Regional scoring a 75.16 receiving 4th in their round. Everyone has an opportunity to see the award-winning performance of the AHS and Goza Winter Guard on Thursday evening at 7:00p.m. in the AHS Gym. Both teams will compete on Friday at the AMAA Winter Guard State Championship at Lake Hamilton High School.

On Monday, we begin the final grading period for the 2024-2025 school year. On Friday, we have Professional Development Day for teachers–there will be NO school for students. Spring Break is March 24-28.
There are a lot of activities this week including Monday’s Band Spring Fling and Thursday’s AHS and Goza Winter Guard Show for family and friends.

AHS Senior Julia Greenwich was recognized in February with a Badger Pride Award. Julia was nominated by AHS Teacher Donna Jones who shares that Julia shows respect when speaking with her peers and teachers. She shows respect and kindness by helping others with their work, being attentive in class, and asking questions. Our Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes include a CKH Word of the Month. Our students are doing a great job of implementing these character traits into their daily lives.

Kindergarten students did an amazing job this afternoon in their first musical at Peake Elementary School! This evening, we welcome parents and guests to join us at 5:30 p.m. (Fogerty, Garner, & Gierth) and 7:00 p.m. (Forthman, Hardage, Howell, and Reed) for E-I-E-I-Oops under the direction of Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Cornelius.

The AHS JROTC held their annual Cadet Military Ball on March 7th at The Barn at Richwoods. It was hosted by the Battalion Commander Georgia Stockton and the Battalion Staff. The guest speaker was Ms. Earnestine Hatley, who is a retired Army veteran. Ms. Hatley has worked with several community programs in Clark County and is the President of the Clark County Branch of the NAACP.

Arkadelphia was representing on Wednesday at the Henderson State University Education Job Fair. Ms. Snowden and Mrs. Mays had the opportunity to meet some amazing college students who have chosen the field of education.

AHS Student Elijah Garcia was given a Badger Pride Award for February. Elijah was nominated by teacher Sara Adams for demonstrating the CKH Word of the Month, respect. Elijah has been very respectful with his peers and teachers. He is well-mannered, demonstrates good behavior, follows directions, and completes his work. We are so glad Elijah is a Badger!

AHS AP Physics 1 students got to experience what it’s like to be a college physics student through a field trip to OBU on Monday. They began the day by attending a physics lecture and a physics lab exploring the relationship between potential and kinetic energy. They visited with professors and college students and got to ask questions about college life. Students finished the day with a trip to the engineering shop where they were tasked with creating LEGO cars. Their creations were evaluated based on appearance, weight, and speed. They even got to try some of the college lunch options. Thank you OBU for providing this great opportunity for our students!

AHS Student Chestin Mitchell received a Badger Pride Award in the February School Board meeting. Chestin was nominated for the Badger Pride by AHS Science Teacher Staci Johnson. Ms. Johnson shares that Chestin consistently demonstrates the character trait of respect. He uses polite manners even in moments of redirection or reprimand. He always uses respect. We are proud to recognize freshman Chestin Mitchell!

Assistant Director of Dawson Education Service Cooperative Candiss Bennett spoke at Goza on Monday during grade-level assemblies. Candiss has presented this year to the Arkadelphia Public Schools Certified Staff and at a Goza Parent Night last semester on bullying. Yesterday, she spoke with our Goza students on that topic. Thank you Candiss for sharing important information with our students. We are also proud of how attentive our students were during the assembly!

We have some March dates on our 2024-2025 school calendar that we want to remind you about.
Friday, March 14 ends our 3rd grading period; the final grading period begins on Monday, March 17.
Friday, March 21 is a Professional Development Day for teachers; there will be NO school for students.
Monday, March 24 through Friday, March 28 is spring break–NO school.
Everyone returns to school after spring break on March 31.

District Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Jeanette Turner was recognized with a Badger Pride Award at last month’s school board meeting. Dr. Turner has helped with car rider duty at Peake since the first day of school this year and has continued to help each day since. Neither rain nor freezing temperatures have deterred her from being there to greet students. This is not part of her assigned duties, yet she shows up daily. From the staff, students, and families, Dr. Turner is capturing hearts! Thank you!
