AHS hosted what has become its annual Reality Fair on Monday! Students had the opportunity to create a budget based on their anticipated post-graduate earnings. Here is what’s happening this week in the Arkadelphia School District. Monday evening is the regular school board meeting that was rescheduled from last week due to weather. We have 1st grade musical and chili supper/art show at Peake; spring pictures at Goza; Reality Fair at AHS; regional basketball along with state Swim/Dive and Wrestling. Let’s go! #BadgerPride

The Arkadelphia High School Black History Committee presented Resilience-Excellence-Legacy at the Annual Black History Assembly held in February. Each year during the celebration, members of the local community are recognized. This year’s recipients received awards for their resilience, excellence, and legacy thus impacting and inspiring lives in our community. Recognized this year are Karen Ford, Sharon Ford, Destinee Seabrooks-Roberson, Caiden Dickerson, Myles Harper, and the Peake High School Alumni Foundation. The program also included ‘Lift Every Voice’ sung by the AHS Black History Committee Choir and HSU NPHC presentations. The AHS Black History Committee is chaired by Mrs. Ashley Wesley. #BadgerPride #BlackHistoryMonth

Congratulations to all our Spelling Bee Grades 4-8 Students who represented their class, grade, school, and district so well today at the Clark County Spelling Bee! Arkadelphia students Lucas Feller and Martin Stover earned first and second place respectively; Gurdon 7th grader Callen Johnson placed third. Lucas, a Peake fourth-grade student, will represent Clark County at the Arkansas Spelling Bee next month. We appreciate the adults involved–Katie McGlone, Sydney Miller, Misti Dixon, Blake Bell (MC), the judges, parents, and Park Hill Baptist Church for hosting. #BadgerPride

Goza Middle School hosted its 2nd Annual Black History Assembly in the Lecture Hall at Henderson State University this afternoon. Members of the Goza Student Council welcomed the 7th & 8th grade students in attendance; conducted Black History Trivia with prizes; and recognized Goza staff that held membership in Greek organizations. This year the event was in partnership with the HSU NPHC. Ashlee Dixon, Director of Greek Life and Student Engagement at HSU introduced representatives of the seven chapters of the Divine Nine currently chartered on the campus. Thank you to Mr. Ankton, the Goza Student Council, and HSU NPHC for their work to celebrate Black History with our students. #BadgerPride

The kindergarten team at Peake Elementary got a new member this semester! Sarah Fogerty was brought on this semester as a kindergarten teacher. Ms. Fogerty has served as a substitute including a long-term position at Peake. Welcome to the team Sarah Fogerty! #BadgerPride

The Arkadelphia School District will be open tomorrow, Thursday, February 20th. The transportation director has driven bus routes and they are clear and safe for bus travel. Please use caution if driving in the morning. Bridges could have some ice patches after tonight’s low temps. Take it slow and be safe. In accordance with our adopted 2024-25 school calendar, today’s school day will be made up on Friday, April 18th (Good Friday). Any future days missed will be added starting on May 22nd. Currently, May 21st is our last scheduled school day for this year. Thank you.

With the forecasted weather making its arrival and road conditions expected to worsen overnight, classes are cancelled and the Arkadelphia School District will be closed on Wednesday, February 19th. Stay safe and warm! #BadgerPride

Due to the impending winter weather, the Arkadelphia School District Board of Education meeting scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled to Monday, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. School board meetings are held upstairs in Dawson Building #3 at the corner of 7th & Clinton St.

With the expected arrival of winter weather moving into our area on Tuesday, the Arkadelphia School District will plan at this time to dismiss students at 1:00p.m. If the weather forecast changes throughout the night and into the early morning hours, further notifications may be sent in the morning if more precise timing determines an earlier than anticipated arrival. Here’s what is happening this week in the Arkadelphia School District! We will be in school on Monday (make-up day). February is Black History Month and this week our schools have planned opportunities to celebrate! Basketball Senior Night has been moved to Monday night due to weather concerns. We hope to see you at the AHS Gymnasium to support our seniors! Peake Elementary School continues the tradition of hosting a Chili Supper and Art Show--this Thursday!
