On Wednesday, we were honored to host Arkansas Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva, Forward Arkansas, and the Center for Outcomes-Based Contracting at Peake Elementary School. The visit highlighted how Arkadelphia Public Schools is leading the way with High-Impact Tutoring (HIT).
Peake showcased our students as well as the teachers and staff who are creating the conditions for our students to thrive! They are receiving specialized support to boost their reading skills, and the progress is inspiring. Whether in-person or through Amplified virtual tutoring, it is evident that our students are taking ownership of their learning and reaching new heights. We appreciate everyone who is making this opportunity possible.
We were also glad to have local representatives, including the Ross Foundation, our universities, and Dawson Coop, present for the visit. You can read more about our partnership with Forward Arkansas and this week’s visit at www.arkansasonline.com/news/2026/may/13/tutoring-firms-must-deliver-reading-results-in/

Congratulations to Ms. Beverly Slavens for receiving the inaugural Clinton Presidential Center’s Arkansas Educator Impact Guiding Light Award, “for encouraging leadership, school spirit, and a sense of belonging in the classroom, school, and community.”
For an incredible 57 years, Ms. Slavens has dedicated her life to teaching in Arkansas, shaping generations of students in Arkadelphia. One thing many people in our community share is that at some point in their lives, they or someone they love was taught by Beverly Slavens. Her impact extends far beyond academics, reaching multiple generations and leaving a lasting mark on families, colleagues, and our entire community. She is an incredible treasure to our school and community. We are so thrilled that she was recognized with this honor.
