Meridith Armstrong’s 6th Period Social Studies class at Goza had a special guest speaker on Friday. HSU President Dr. Trey Berry shared a lesson on the Louisiana Purchase. Dr. Berry brought with him the journal of William Dunbar, which described the Hunter-Dunbar Exploration as they traveled the Ouachita River more than 200 years ago. Dr. Berry also brought a compass that was given to Dunbar by then-President Thomas Jefferson. Mrs. Armstrong was a student in Dr. Berry’s History class during her time at OBU and the students got to experience some of his instruction for themselves!
