We are excited to welcome Ondrea Green to Arkadelphia Public Schools this year as an assistant band director at Goza Middle School and Arkadelphia High School. Ms. Green is a graduate of Arkansas High in Texarkana and Southern Arkansas University. She is a woodwind specialist and primarily a clarinet and saxophone player. A team of individuals made up of staff and volunteers were recently presented with Badger Pride Awards for their work with the Arkadelphia Summer Feeding Program. In June and July, 11,772 breakfast meals were served, and 11,865 lunches. These meals were onsite and through bulk box Friday afternoon distributions. We are so appreciative of their work in meeting the needs of families in our community. Thank you.

Friday’s Peake Grandparents’ Day Parade very well may have set a record for the number of vehicles in an Arkadelphia Parade! Thank you to all the Grands who participated. The students and staff at Peake Elementary School and Peake Rosenwald Preschool loved seeing all of you in the parade. What a celebration!

Cody Stone from the Clark County Game and Fish spoke on Friday to Seventh Graders at Goza Middle School. Officer Stone described some of the careers available through the Game and Fish Commission and his path to his current position.

It was a little rainy but we were still proud to see some of our students in the Clark County Fair Parade on Wednesday. The Fair continues through Saturday.

You might notice on Thursday nights that the Badger Stadium lights will be on during football season. If you see the lights blue on Thursday night, the Varsity Badgers have a home game on Friday night. If you see the lights are red on Thursday night, the Varsity Badgers have an away game on Friday night.
Tonight, you will see the lights are in blue. The Badgers will host the Lake Hamilton Wolves tomorrow night!

Goza Middle School Media Specialist Kathy King invited a special visitor to the library today. Ranger, a Portuguese Water Dog, is a certified therapy dog through Pet Partners. Students got to know Ranger and even read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds to him. It was a wonderful experience for all. Ranger and his owner Kathy Danley live in Hot Springs. We are so glad they came today!

In the August School Board meeting, Nabholz Employees Victor Martinez (Not Pictured) and Kris Davis, Peake Job Site Superintendent, were presented a Badger Pride Award. They were nominated by the Peake Elementary School Faculty and Staff who wanted to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mr. Davis and Mr. Martinez for their invaluable assistance during ALL the transition to the new Peake building. They especially wanted to express their appreciation for stepping up during the dismissal time on the very first day of school and selflessly offering their help. We are grateful for the kindness they showed the adults and the students while helping that day.

Mr. Jonathan Spencer has joined the Arkadelphia School District as Assistant Band Director of the Arkadelphia High School and Goza Middle School Bands. Before joining the Arkadelphia Band Program this year, Mr. Spencer was an assistant band director in the Hope Public School District. We are happy to welcome him to the Arkadelphia Public School District!

Help us welcome Ms. Jazmine Johnson to Arkadelphia Public Schools as a first-grade teacher at Peake Elementary School! Ms. Johnson graduated from Gurdon High School and Ouachita Baptist University. This will be her fourth year of teaching and her first in Arkadelphia. Teachers who never gave up on her have inspired Ms. Johnson to choose a career in education.
