A group from AHS FBLA presented their state FBLA projects this morning at Henderson State University to members of the College of Business. FBLA students received feedback on their presentations from the faculty in preparation for the Arkansas FBLA State Leadership Conference on April 29-30. Thank you to the HSU College of Business and Nathan Campbell, Dean, for hosting our students. AHS FBLA Advisers Ashley Wesley and Kristin Cloninger accompanied the students. We are proud of the preparation students are making for their competitions! #BadgerPride

Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Hornsby who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at last night’s South Central FCA Banquet held at Family Farm. Almost 35 years ago, Mrs. Hornsby began Arkadelphia Students For Christ and transitioned it to FCA. So many Arkadelphia students have been impacted by FCA. Well deserved, Mrs. Hornsby! #BadgerPride

Mrs. Jillian King was recognized in the April Board of Education meeting with a Badger Pride Award. Mrs. King is the PTC Secretary at Perritt and was nominated by Mrs. Kimberly Ellison. Mrs. King has taken a proactive approach and genuine interest in supporting Perritt Staff Professional Development events. We recognize the hard work she does behind the scenes to enhance the sense of community at Perritt Primary. We are grateful to Jillian King for her leadership and the significant role she plays in the success of our school. #BadgerPride

Purple Up! for Military Kids Day - Friday, April 19 April is the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. ADE has designated Friday, April 19 as Purple Up! Day to recognize military children and their families. More than 14,000 Arkansans served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Many serve on active duty while others serve in the reserve forces and the National Guard. More than 6,100 military children are enrolled in Arkansas public schools. Goza Middle School and Arkadelphia High School were recently named Purple Star Schools. Every campus is encouraged to wear purple this Friday to recognize the unique academic and social challenges children of military families face and the sacrifices they make because of their parent’s military service. #BadgerPride

We appreciate everyone who came last night to the APSD K-12 Student Art Exhibit Reception. We are so proud of our students and their artwork! Thank you to the incredible art teachers in our district for the hard work and inspiration they bring to school every day. The Impressionism-inspired art exhibit will continue through April 25th. The Arkadelphia Arts Center is open Tuesdays (4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.) and Thursdays (10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.). #BadgerPride

AHS Students Sydney Covington, Christian Hunter, and Trace Young attended the RYLA-Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, at the 4-H Center in Ferndale over the weekend. RYLA is an intensive leadership and teamwork training program for youth (rising 10th/11th graders) from South and East Arkansas. This program helps youth develop character, increase leadership skills, and learn about Rotary. #BadgerPride

It's a very important week for our schools. Peake, Goza, and AHS will be giving the ATLAS State Assessments. First Grade Spring NWEA Exams will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. 9th/10th Grade Students will start tomorrow with the ELA Assessment. Peake and Goza begin on Tuesday. We also hope everyone will make plans to visit the Arkadelphia Art Center to see the amazing work of our K-12 Art Students. There will be a reception 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. on Tuesday. The Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center was out helping Thursday morning at Peake and Perritt car rider duty. Tomorrow is the Duck Derby Festival at the Lower Lake. The Nickelodeon Choir and Peake Choir will be singing! Don't forget to buy ducks for the Student Duck Sale Contest. 2024-25 Kindergarten Registration is now open! If your child will be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2024, and you have NOT completed the Kindergarten Enrollment Application, please do so in order to receive school communications and student/teacher assignments for the 2024-25 School Year. Next week, our students will be taking ATLAS end-of-year summative assessments that are used to assess all Arkansas Public School students in Grades 3-8 in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. Students will take end-of-year exams for ELA in Grades 9 and 10 and end-of-course exams for Algebra I, Geometry, and Biology. Perritt Primary School has six sets of twins this year! This includes Kathy Crow, ESOL Interventionist, and her twin, Debbie Robertson, 2nd Grade Teacher, who coordinated a little photo shoot of the Perritt Twin Group. Double the cuteness! #BadgerPride

Peake Librarian Griffin Pritchard read the book Eclipse last week with students during library time. The book was written by Andy Rash who was inspired by his experience of witnessing the 2017 Eclipse with his 7-year-old son. We hope everyone had an opportunity to watch yesterday’s eclipse with someone special. It was an amazing experience! #BadgerPride
