Congratulations to the Arkadelphia 9th Grade Quiz Bowl team for winning the 4A Southwest Regional Tournament on Saturday at Fountain Lake! Team members include (Back row) Henry Harrell, Nate Newton, Jacob Calhoon, Spencer Seel, and Hayleigh Lynn; (Front row) Alaina Metcalf, Carly Martin, and Eden Heard. Hayleigh Lynn earned the Tournament MVP. Hayleigh and Alaina Metcalf were named to the Quiz Bowl All-Star team. They are coached by Mrs. Adrienne Doles. The team will compete at the state level on February 17th. Congratulations 9th Grade Quiz Bowl! #BadgerPride

Clayton Vaden of Lewis Architects Engineers gave an update to the Arkadelphia School Board on the progress of our new Peake Elementary School. The new building remains on schedule to receive students for the 2024-25 School Year. We appreciate the hard work of our construction partners, Nabholz and Lewis Architects. It is so exciting to watch the progress being made! It's always a great day to be a Badger! #BadgerPride

February is Black History Month! The City of Arkadelphia hosted the 2nd Annual Black History Month Celebration, “Celebrating Our Black History.” Congratulations to Arkadelphia Public Schools Board Member Dr. Kenneth G. Harris Jr. who was recognized as a part of the 2024 Class of Black History Month Honorees. Dr. Harris has served on the Arkadelphia Board of Education for the past 40 years and was the first African American to serve as president of the school board. There to celebrate with him and his family were Superintendent Nikki Thomas, current Board President Blake Bell, and the Arkadelphia High School Black History Month Committee and their sponsor, Ashley Wesley. Congratulations to Dr. Harris and all the Black History Month Honorees. What a great way to start Black History Month! #BadgerPride

This is the last day of School Board Recognition Month. At the January School Board Meeting, we recognized the contributions of our seven school board members and their unwavering commitment to Arkadelphia Public Schools. Each board member received special creative gifts, notes of appreciation, and a Certificate of Recognition during the Badger Pride Awards as well as a School Board Recognition video starring our Arkadelphia students. Special thanks to the students of Mrs. Robin Jones, Mrs. Amy Hornsby, and Mrs. Amy Taylor for sharing your talents to help us celebrate our school board. We also appreciate our building construction partner, Nabholz, for providing a wonderful meal for our school board members before the meeting began. Goza Middle School students Chase Conroy, Christopher Hogan, and Hayden Hooten along with their teacher, Jequetta Berry, attended the Economic Arkansas Stock Market Fall Awards Luncheon on Monday at the Clinton Presidential Library. The team finished in first place in the Middle School Region 2 Division. Eighteen teams from elementary, middle/jr. high, and high school were represented at the lunch; over 2,000 teams in Arkansas participated in the Stock Market Challenge. The students received a medallion, certificate, and $125 split between the team members. The team trophy is now displayed in the Goza office. Congratulations to Ms. Berry and her students on their outstanding accomplishments! #BadgerPride

Ida Tramble and Romanetha Terry of the Clark County Retired Teachers Association came to Perritt today to donate supplies for students to use during classroom instruction. We are so appreciative of this organization and its support for our students and staff. Thank you so much! #BadgerPride

The AHS Cyberpatriot Open team won the Arkansas Gold Tier Division in the U.S. Cyberpatriot competition in December. They finished 1st over the 2nd place team Ignite Professional Studies in Bentonville and 3rd Place Springdale High School. This made them eligible to compete in the national semi-finals. The team was recognized with a Badger Pride Award at the January School Board meeting: Blakely Davis, Benjamin Dong, Sephorah Faiq, Tristin Hamilton, Timothy LeVar, and Emma Nelson. They are coached by Vince Herron and sponsored by Clair Mays. #BadgerPride

Sophia Clark, a Goza 8th Grade Student, attended a WIN Session taught by Jequetta Berry entitled “Fun with Financial Topics.” She was encouraged to draw the picture that came to mind when she thought about the concept of Price. Her work was worthy of recognition in the Economics Arkansas Picture Econ Art Contest. She and her WIN teacher, Ms. Berry, both received a $50 Walmart gift card from Economics Arkansas which sponsored the contest. Thank you to Ms. Berry for giving students the opportunity to create and share their work. Sophia, we are so proud of you! #BadgerPride

At this time, we plan on running all bus routes tomorrow. If road conditions change overnight, and a bus driver encounters water over the road along their route in the morning, they will not go through it. Safety is our top priority and we appreciate your understanding. Looking forward to a sunny Friday!

Perritt student Ava Lazenby was recognized at the Arkadelphia School Board meeting this week with a Badger Pride Award. Her teacher, Amy Evins, and the rest of the 1st Grade Team nominated her “because she is an extremely kind and caring student. She always goes out of her way to help others feel included. She seeks out students at recess who need a friend and she is immediately there to be supportive and friendly. Her demeanor is always kind and positive. Ava is a remarkable young girl. We are so proud of her!” #BadgerPride

Arkadelphia Public Schools will be open tomorrow, January 25, 2024; however, we do still have some flooded areas that are not safe for our buses. Our buses will not drive through high water. With Hwy 7 east of Arkadelphia closed again this evening, Mr. Hughes (Route 14), will not be able to provide transportation to and from school tomorrow, Thursday, January 25, 2024. There may be some areas on other routes that are also impacted. If you cannot safely get your child to and from school, please call the school office or send a note when your child returns and they will be allowed to make up all missed work without a penalty. Safety is our top priority and we appreciate your understanding.

Congratulations to Goza Middle School 8th Grade Student Emma Riggan who received a Badger Pride Award at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. Emma’s exceptional photography has been selected for the Teen Photography Showcase at Crystal Bridges on exhibition from November 18 through January 28. Her work was hand-picked for the exhibition by the renowned photographer, Annie Leibovitz. She was nominated by her Goza Art Teacher, Regan Morehead. We are so proud of Emma! #BadgerPride

Out of an abundance of caution, with precipitation and temps hovering around freezing for the next few hours, Arkadelphia Public Schools will be closed today. We do not want to put our staff and students on the road with the potential of worsening conditions.
