Please welcome to the Badger Family, Mrs. Autumn Greenwood! Mrs. Greenwood is teaching 1st Grade at Peake Elementary this year. A recent graduate of Henderson State University, she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Educational Leadership. In the August Board of Education meeting, the AHS Band Booster Food Committee members were recognized with Badger Pride Awards. They were nominated by the AHS Leadership Team, who commended the group for going above and beyond during summer practices to ensure the band students were well fed and hydrated, enabling them to focus on learning the 2025 marching band show. Committee members include Nancy Harrell (chair), Jennifer Almand, Karen Campbell, Jimmy and Micah Darby, Liz Martin, and Amy Taylor. Members not pictured are Lori Copeland, Terese Cox, Tannea Nelson, and Wendy Schaeffer. They are continuing their work on meals for students as the marching season has now begun. We appreciate ALL you are doing to support our band!

Arkadelphia High School Instructional Facilitator Jill Hardin gave the instructional data report during last month’s Arkadelphia School Board meeting. Mrs. Hardin presented results from the ACT exam administered to 10th and 11th grade students last spring on the AHS campus. These results included two perfect English scores by current seniors Ellie Echols and Timothy LeVar. Timothy also scored perfectly on the reading portion of the exam. Jill also presented goals for seeing continued improvement, including RTI ACT Prep time with educators such as Ms. Slavens.

Officer Randy Windham of the Arkadelphia Police Department has been appointed as the School Resource Officer at Goza Middle School. SRO Windham joined the Goza staff in August when school began. Officer Windham grew up right here in Clark County. He has been in law enforcement for eight years. This role is much more than a job to him–it’s a calling. Originally from Southeastern Oklahoma, Mr. Floyd taught for seven years before pursuing a different career path, but his passion for teaching has brought him back to the classroom here at Goza. Arkadelphia High School Parent Brooke Cowart was recognized in the August School Board meeting with a Badger Pride Award. She was nominated by the AHS Leadership Team. Mrs. Cowart spent countless hours this summer assisting the AHS Cheer Squad in their annual Badger paw painting fundraiser. Peake Elementary School held its first "Pizza with Police" event of the school year. Ms. Ashley Reed’s Kindergarten students were treated to pizza and a visit from local police officers. Thank you to Patterson Federal Credit Union for providing pizza, Southern Bancorp for water bottles, Dr. Jeanette Turner for paper goods, and the Arkadelphia Police Department for investing their time with our young students. They love it. It’s always a great day to be a Badger!
