We would like for the Arkadelphia community to be aware that today our school buildings are open for Parent Teacher Conferences from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. During that time, you are welcome to come inside and see our school facilities by entering through our main entrances. The Arkadelphia Public School District Board of Education voted unanimously in August to approve a resolution seeking the public’s support for a 3.0 millage increase. With voter approval, funds would be available to replace the 52-year old high school and construct a new high school facility for grades 9-12, including a safe room, career education center, fine arts auditorium, and extracurricular areas that benefit district-wide programs.

We will host two community meetings in the AHS Little Theater on Monday, November 3rd, at 12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

AHS Junior Carson Brawley was recognized Tuesday evening in the Arkadelphia School Board meeting. Carson was recently selected as one of nine students in Arkansas to serve on the Circle K Arkansas Activities Association Student Advisory Council. This committee meets periodically at the AAA Office for leadership training, AAA updates, and provides feedback about personal experiences in high school activities. They have produced a video, “What I Would Do Differently?”

This month, Pizza with Police came to the Peake 2nd-grade class of Candace Williams. We appreciate Peake SRO Jimmy Shearin and the Arkadelphia Police Department for investing time with our students. It’s going to be a shorter week but a busy week. AHS has ATLAS Fall Interims. The Peake Book Fair is happening this week. GOOD LUCK to Lady Badger Volleyball in the South Regional Tournament. Badger Pride Marching Band heads to Regional Assessment on Tuesday evening. Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Thursday. Students are out of school October 23-27. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our campuses will once again be competing for Pink Out School of the Year and some pink treats for their campus. We want everyone to wear PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness. We will need everyone’s input to make that decision. Be looking for Peake Elementary School, Goza Middle School, and Arkadelphia High School Facebook Pink Out Day posts on Friday by 9:30 a.m. to like and share for your campus. Last month, the Arkadelphia Promise announced the creation of the Teacher of the Month Award, made possible by the late Janice Stanford’s remarkable generosity through a legacy donation to the Arkadelphia Promise Foundation.

The award honors not only Mrs. Stanford’s $250,000 gift but also the memory of her father, Stanley Stanford, a longtime teacher at Arkadelphia High School. Their legacy continues to inspire excellence in education across our community.

The first recipient of the Teacher of the Month Award is Mr. Grant Reimers, an English teacher in his fifth year at Arkadelphia High School. He is the current Arkadelphia High School Teacher of the Year. He also serves as a Senior High Quiz Bowl Coach. Mr. Reimers captures the attention of his students through his lessons within the classroom, but can also be seen in the stands supporting his students on game day.

Mr. Reimers was recognized with a cash award in appreciation of his service and impact by Arkadelphia Promise Director Jason Jones. This award will be presented monthly to an Arkadelphia educator who demonstrates excellence in the classroom, a passion for student success, and an unwavering dedication to the teaching profession.

We’re proud to highlight Peake Elementary’s CKH student, Lian Eshawi, for exhibiting Empathy. 💙
Lian was nominated for always being helpful to her classmates, checking on them when they’re upset, and making sure everyone feels included. Her kindness and compassion shine in and out of the classroom!

A group of students from Grades 4 - 6 recently competed in a Chess Tournament through Dawson Education Co-op. Congratulations to Sixth Grader Ledger Wiley, who won 1st place among all 6th graders, and Zeke Heber, who won 2nd place in the 4th grade category.
