Mrs. Jean Smithey was presented a Badger Pride Award in the February Arkadelphia School Board meeting. Mrs. Smithey is a retired Arkadelphia Public Schools teacher and speaks fluent Spanish. She volunteers twice a week to work with one of our students who moved to Arkadelphia from Mexico at the end of last year. This has helped tremendously to strengthen the student's knowledge in literacy. She was nominated by Perritt Primary 2nd Grade teacher, Mrs. Debbie Robertson who states, “Mrs. Smithey exemplifies what it means to demonstrate Badger Pride.” Thank you Jean Smithey for making a difference in the lives of our students!

Goza 8th Graders had the incredible opportunity on Wednesday to visit the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site. The visit was a learning experience for our students with a guided tour and time in the Visitors Center. Students were challenged to make a difference in their world just as the Little Rock Nine. A day they will not forget.
