We have winners! Jequetta Berry’s Goza WIN students have been participating in the statewide Stock Market Game sponsored by Economics Arkansas. They received word today that they earned 1st place in their Region during the fall Stock Market Competition for middle school level. They are invited to attend the Student Awards Luncheon in January which will take place at the Clinton Presidential Library. The first-place team members will split $125 cash, receive a medallion, certificate, and school trophy.

GT Coordinator Misti Dixon traveled with some of the 7th and 8th grade female GT students to the Malvern's Boys and Girls Club to attend the 5G Jubilee hosted by Brenda Rush GT Coordinator in the Malvern School District.
This event is a service day in which girls make decorations based on Peruvian designs that are sold to raise money for the www.sacredvalleyproject.org

Computer Science Education does not begin in high school. At the middle school level, students must complete a four-week coding experience in Arkansas. At Goza Middle School, 8th-grade students are coding in Jequetta Berry’s Career Development course. They are using Codester to create coding projects. Coding is embedded for 7th Graders this year during LaKesha Berry’s Keyboarding class and 6th Graders have Coding with Lori Hanlon as one of their Related Arts rotations.

Harris Jr., was recognized for 40 years of service on the school board during a luncheon held at the Arkansas School Board Association Annual Conference. Arkadelphia School Board President Blake Bell presented this morning at the New Board Member Institute during the Arkansas School Board Association Annual Conference in Little Rock. Mr. Bell’s topic was “The Basics of School Board Governance.” Our newest board member, Lori Smith, was in attendance along with Superintendent Nikki Thomas.

December 4-10 is Computer Science Education Week. Beginning with the Class of 2026, every student must have a Computer Science credit to graduate from high school in Arkansas. Students have the opportunity to get this credit by taking Programming I with Mrs. Stefanie Davis. Students are learning how creative and fun learning coding skills can be!

Goza Middle School Art Teacher Regan Morehead recently traveled to Bentonville to participate in a two-day forum at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (CBMAA). Mrs. Morehead was selected out of a large pool of middle school teachers throughout Arkansas to give input on programs being developed by Crystal Bridges Museum as part of their partnership with schools in Arkansas to maximize the educational learning experience in the Arts. She was one of six art teachers selected to provide a specific view on her content area as well as that of rural conservative small-town communities. Mrs. Morehead is an amazing representative of our school district and a wonderful art teacher!

AHS FACS Classes are learning to use the sewing machine. Mrs. Robin Jones did a great job taking students step-by-step through the process each day last week. On Thursday they went through stitch practices. Their semester assessment is making a blanket and pillow using their skills on the sewing machine!
