Earlier this month, AHS Students Anabelle Davis and Josh Davis had the opportunity to represent South Central Arkansas and Arkadelphia Public Schools in Washington DC. These outstanding students had the opportunity to explore our nation's capital, learn about government and public service, meet cooperative leaders from across the country, and create memories that will last a lifetime, highlighted by the preparation for the U.S. 250th Celebration.

We would like to thank Second Baptist Church for blessing our school staff during Teacher Appreciation Week last month. Second Baptist provided delicious drinks for every campus, including some energizing drinks delivered by Shelley Hughes with Java Primo. Last week, some of our tech team attended the annual Hot Springs Technology Institute. The conference included inspiring speakers such as Gerry Brooks and Dr. Robin Finley. They joined breakout sessions on cybersecurity platforms, AI, student data privacy, and other school-related tech topics.

What a good start to Father’s Day weekend at DeGray Golf Course! ⛳️ Badger pride was on full display as the community gathered for a full tournament to support the Arkadelphia Badger Golf and Basketball teams.
This year’s event marks a deeply meaningful milestone. Formerly known as the Ken Duke Golf Classic, the tournament has been renamed the Ray and Ken Duke Golf Classic at Ken’s request, honoring his father just in time for the holiday weekend.
A huge thank you to Coach Garrett Garner for his hard work organizing this successful event, and to all of our incredible community sponsors. A special shout-out to Tim Welch Funeral Home for generously sponsoring the meals for every golfer!

Everyone is invited to join the Goza Middle School Stream Team this Thursday as they clean up the Sports Complex pond area in preparation for the Fishing Derby this weekend.
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothes
Closed-toe shoes
Water bottle
Positive attitude
Trash bags will be provided. There will be a limited supply of rubber gloves. You may bring your own gloves and grabber tools if you have them.
The Mission: As Badgers, we take pride in our community! Help us remove litter and prepare the pond for the Fishing Derby. This is completely volunteer-based. Every piece of trash collected makes a difference! Students and/or guardians are responsible for transportation.

This morning, the Arkadelphia High School JROTC conducted two color guard flag presentations in support of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. One tree, planted at the Clark County Courthouse, was dedicated to PFC Landon Giles (KIA, Iraq, 2005) and his Gold Star Family. The second tree, planted at Central Park, was a Liberty Tree (American Spruce) dedicated to American Patriots and their dedication to the cause of independence.

The Arkadelphia School Board recognized Ms. Beverly Slavens at the May School Board meeting. We were privileged to honor her for receiving the inaugural Clinton Presidential Center’s Arkansas Educator Impact Guiding Light Award. This award is given to an educator “for encouraging leadership, school spirit, and a sense of belonging in the classroom, school, and community.” A perfect description of Ms. Slavens and her impact. She just completed her 47th year at Arkadelphia High School. Congratulations, Ms. Slavens!

🏆 Mr. Ankton was recently named the Arkansas Council for the Social Studies Secondary Teacher of the Year and was honored during the awards ceremony held at the Clinton Presidential Center today.
🌿 He was also recognized by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission during its May 21 Commission meeting as a member of the 2024–2026 AGFC Teacher Leader Council, representing the Arkadelphia School District. Through this leadership role, Mr. Ankton has helped connect students with outdoor learning opportunities, conservation education, and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission programming.

At the May School Board meeting, Peake’s Lillian Ball, De’Shae Craig, and Chris Golston, along with three other deserving nominees who were unable to attend, received Badger Pride awards for their involvement in helping make the high-impact tutoring (HIT) program a success.
Principal Mary Snowden said that these individuals represent those on campus who are willing to do whatever is asked of them, whether it is serving as facilitators for tutoring, accommodating placement changes, giving up time, or encouraging students to do their best. We are grateful for everyone at Peake who worked together as a team to see the HIT program succeed. Thank you!

Empowering Every Crew Member," our leadership team is already collaborating, setting goals, and focusing heavily on the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

Congratulations to Arkadelphia Class of 2023 graduate Marveon Berry! Marveon, who is an English-creative writing major at Hendrix College in Conway, is among 24 student and faculty-led projects at Hendrix that were approved for funding. This funding for his project, Revision and Remixing Towards Academia, will allow him to travel to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to participate in the Fine Arts Work Center’s poetry workshop with John Murillo. Amazing!

Arkadelphia High School Students Chestin Mitchell and Heidi Marlar received a Badger Pride Award at the May School Board meeting. Chestin and Heidi successfully completed the entire Barton program. There has only been one other student to achieve this milestone in our school district. This is an incredible accomplishment done through hard work and dedication. We are all very proud of them, but especially Mrs. Joan Crowder, who nominated them for this award.
